Early Decision

It is obviously a fluke, because looking at me, you, and silverstonett, someone would think that the only people applying early decision to Vassar are male minorities. That would be funny though.

Sounds great for you but for me…discouraging…ehhhh

Oh I meant that in regards to classacts post.

Funny the people theyre likely seeking are the ones that are most worried. You two sound like your in good shape though…

I hate the SATs.
My guidance counselor said I had a good chance but im going to worry nevertheless

IHeartVassar, classact, have either of you had the chance to visit?

here are some pics ive taken on my trips to the school for you guys to see if u wanna

<a href=“Desktop Wallpaper: Free Trial!”>Desktop Wallpaper: Free Trial!;

I visited July 12, day before my 17th birthday, and loved it. w00t.

You know what bothers me too, one of us may be denied admission when we’re the ones on this site posting about the school so much when another person who is applying just to apply may get the offer only to turn it down…

Hopefully God helps out and things work out…

Omg, that would suck hardcore. Thanks for posting pics, they’re great. I think we’ll all get in, at least that’s my dream. Anyway, have you been contacted about an interview because I still haven’t?

Their interviews are ridiculous…still no word and its now nearing the deadline for ED1…most of the other schools im not even serious about attending are setting up interviews or have already contacted me for them…

They need to hurry up!

Maybe the interviews are just a sham to see if you’ll request one. That’d be funny. But yeah, I haven’t been contacted either and the interview request deadline was the 8th. We may be contacted next week though, just have to wait and see.

I visited a little over a month ago. I think the campus was one of the best parts. When I was there, I read somewhere “If visiting hasn’t answered all of your questions, then you should go to an interview” or something of that nature. From that I would assume the interview is really just informational and maybe they don’t give it much priority in what they are doing now. But I sure you’ll be contacted soon.

Well the interviewer does have to evaluate you and say whether or not he or she thinks you’re good for the school. So I just signed up for it thinking that it couldn’t hurt and might just give me another small boost.

Hey, I’m applying, though not early decision. Hopefully I’ll have a chance in the regular pool. I visited last April and really loved the place. It’s absolutely gorgeous. I wasn’t so sure about being so far away from big city, but Vassar is worth the distance. I sat in a Poli Sci class, so much fun! And I went to talk in the evening. It was about Middle Eastern Relations. I’m from San Jose and the only thing I’m worried about is the weather. Hopefully I’ll survive. Anyways, it’s very cool to see other people interested.

Silverstonett-
I enjoyed a trip down memory lane viewing the photos. Looks like you must have been there during 2 different seasons. I graduated many years ago, having been in one of the earlier co-ed classes. Vassar is a wonderful place-- lots of opportunity for individual thinking and creativie expression. You will enjoy being invited to your faculty member’s house for lunch or dinner, traying down the hil by sunset lake in the winter (don’t forget to return the trays to the ACDC) etc etc. I haven’t been on campus in a while-- the new chem building is beautiful. I enjoy reading your passion about the school-- that is important to them.
As for alum interviews-- I’d contact them to set this up-- not wait for them to contact you. If you filled out something on campus, they filter it down to the local clubs to set this up, and if you haven’t heard, you should make a polite follow-up call. Don’t minimize the alum interview. It is usually helpful to have the alum tellthe college what a great person you are and what a wonderful match you will be.
BTW, if alumnae house is finished with its renovations (I believe it is), you must go over and order a Vassar Angel or Devil (deserts). They are a classic. Good luck!

San Jose California? Thats really far…and as for the winter, you shouldnt be worried, just be prepared. Im an hour and a half away and its getting really cold around where I am. It even snowed last night so it seems like this winter is going to be bad.

New york winters, they stink.

Jym-
I didnt see that you had posted before so yea…but Im glad you enjoyed the pictures. The campus really is so beautiful that finding things to take pictures of is easy. Ive visited in three different seasons actually to get an idea of what campus is like, though I only took pictures in two seasons.

As for what you said, I will definetly do something come Monday.

silverstonett-
Here’s another idea-
Go to the alumnae website (www.aavc.vassar.edu) and find your local club. It’ll give you the officers of the club and you can contact them directly. Note- As I said in an earlier note, the renovations of Alumnae House are complete, and the AAVC website says it’ll be down on Nov 15 as they move the computers back tho the ir offices in Alumnae House. So, ckeck the website before then, and good luck.

Hey! I’m applying ED I to Vassar as well! I’ve been looking for people who are as obsessed with Vassar as I am, and it seems as though I’ve come to the right place!!

Ok so here are my stats

rigorious course load-

E.C.
ballet dancer- Have attended Competative Entry Audition summer intensives for the past 3 summers, I also have a strong commitment to music and acting.

uh… it seems like very little down on paper now doesn’t it… :::cries:::
Oh! and also I am Female, from NJ, and i attend a prestigious public high school. EEEEEE I’m so nervous!

It’s about time we had a girl post to say she was applying ED I! Your stats look really good and you obviously have a passion, so hopefully we’ll all get in!!! Only 30 more days until Dec. 15th and I’m about to die I’m so anxious!!!

I’m a girl who’s applying to Vassar ED II. I’m in love with the coampus and the library!!!
Here’s my stats:
Hispanic female
SAT I: 1420 (710 V, 710 M)
SAT II’s: Just taken Nov. 6
ACT: should find out soon
GPA:4.1 W
the one thing I’m worried about, my GPA has been declining from a 4.3 freshman year to a 3.7 this quarter, does Vassar look at 1st quarter grades for EDII??? Im worried about how much this will hurt me.
EC’s:
Piano lessons: 7th-12th
Cheerleading: 9th-10
Flag Corp: 11-12(captain in 12)
Art Club (founder) 11-12 (secretary)
NHS: 11-12(secretary and treasurer)
Voice Lessons: 11-12
Theatre: Various shows from the summer after 9-12, around 10 total, no major parts

Trying to think of original essay and my recs should be relatively good

I’m a little worried about the liberalness of Vassar, I’m moderate liberal
I’m hoping that it’s not as weird as everyone says it is, I like normalcy. but with expression

does anyone know anything about the theatre and music program? I like traditional dance, music, and theatre. Not into modern or postmodern. I was wondering if anyone knows which Vassar tends to lean towards.
I like the tradition of Vassar.

However, all in all, I’m in love

Another female! Now we’re on a roll!

Vassar does look at first quarter grades, even for ED I. I had to email an adcom about this and she just told me to send in my first 6 weeks report card which was kinda bad, all As and a D in IB Math Methods because I’m not good at math all and we’re doing the AP Calculus curriculum. So that might hurt me, but I just hope they see that I haven’t been slacking off, the teacher is crap and I’ve been working non stop in that class, but it’s not working cuz she’s psycho. Whatever. Enough of my complaining.

I think you have really good chances too. I don’t really know how liberal the campus is but I don’t think it’s really extreme.

For everyone who applied ED I, did you do something for Your Space? I didn’t do anything because I’m about as creative as a piece of wood. Yeah. I couldn’t even come up with a cool simile to describe my uncreativity. I suck. But yeah, tell me about your Your Spaces!
