Early Decision

@: wherewithal10: Congrats!!! I hope to have the same luck as you!

hey! congrats! i hear they sent out bumper stickers included in the envelope :)

wherewithal10: Congrats! Such great news!! Hope my D has the same luck as you! Would you mind telling us the ā€œdetailsā€ of the ā€œaccepted envelopeā€ as well as your stats and when your application (including transcripts) was complete?

DD received her letter on Thursday, 12/3. The Acceptance letter was dated 12/1. Her file was complete on 11/10. We are in Virginia. The letter had 61-cents postage and was a little bit bulky, as it contains a Lafayette sticker for the car. All in all, it was a very nice letter.

My friends unfortunately were deferred :frowning: congrats to everyone who got in though!!!

Can’t believe Lafayette is still doing this via snail mail… As an alum I think they could save some money, and as a parent I think they could relieve some stress on their applicants, if they’d do it via a website and email!

Yeah but I would feel much worse with an online deferral

My daughter got accepted today! She got the same bulky envelope, bumper sticker and personal acceptance letter. So nice! Very surprised how quickly it came since her file was missing her first semester grades and guidance counselor rec and not complete until 11/23! I wonder when we will get the financial aid info… Anyone know? I’m going to call on Monday. I thought at the engineering open house they said it would be with the acceptance.

If I applied regular decision after switching it from Early, when would I likely hear by? My file is complete, just having a few issues completing the financial aid forms due to family issues. Do they wait until the finanacial aid forms are done to review the applications? I have had both an on campus interview with a member of admissions and an off campus interview with an Alumni rep.

NJSoccer, I guess that’s true… my D applied ED to another college and was just accepted (yay) - she found out from their online status check website, PLUS an email, PLUS a letter in writing. She said, ā€œIf they had rejected me, would I have gotten rejected 3 times too?ā€

So maybe there’s something to be said for the old-fashioned bulky envelope. And you guys don’t have to go online to buy a bumpersticker for your car!

Mare_Crisium: Lafayette seems to like when candidates show interest. if you are in the tri-state area, I hear they almost expect you to come for one…and might wonder why you didn’t. My daughter had hers a few days after she applied ED. It was informational rather than evaluative and she felt good about it after she was done. If you can do it, I think it’s a good idea.

DolCi, I would think if you switched to RD you’d hear with the RD students… I could be wrong but that’s what seems logical.

My son receceived his acceptance letter last Thurs. 12/3. It was in a letter sized envelope kinda thick. He had all his stuff in on 11/10. Hope this helps.

received it friday…small bulky envelope with a bumper sticker…
was completed towards the end of november…

What about international students? Are their decisions out yet? Although my application was complete by Nov 5. They are saying that the decision wont be out until Dec-mid. Any international applicant here?

Lafayette policy for international students in really demeaning… I got deferred to let you all know.

But I have been monitoring this trend…They never took ED applicants from my country for the last years…They either rejected them or deferred them to RD pool…Coz they defnitely want to consider all international applicants before choosing the finest…

But this I think deconstructs the idea of ED. applicants apply with so much of dedication and trust to ED colleges and they turn them down…I am very sad that lafayette is one of those colleges.

I dont hate Lafayette…btw i seriously think they should get rid of these habits.

take in some internationals in ED from next time and Ill remain quiet…

FYI, a new facebook group has been started for the Lafayette Class of 2014 so the students can get to know one another: [Lafayette Class of 2014 | Facebook](Redirecting...)

What are ur stats

Hi, i’m really anxious about hearing back from them. i sent in my application on monday so i’m waiting to hear if they got everything. i applied ED, went for an interview, got letters of recommendation by alumni as well, but my GPA is lower than the expected 3.8. i have a 3.2 :(
