Earthquake!

Fishymom, was your daughter actually in a crew with the coach that discovered the body? i read that a rowing coach had discovered that body and as a rower, just thought that must have been such a horrifying experience. And the river is so busy right now, too.

Hey Boston people – there are a lot of reasons you might not feel an earthquake. It could be what sort of ground your building is on, whether you are lying down, sitting, standing, or walking (from most likely to feel to least likely in that order.) I was sitting and thought it was the dog running down the stairs, but was a little perplexed why things shook so much.

But don’t take it too hard if you missed it. I experienced the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the SF Bay Area and there were actually support groups for people who felt sad and left out because they didn’t feel it because were driving in their car at the time, etc. :-)

I live in the mountains of Vermont and it was the strongest quake I had ever felt, but have only felt about 3 ever in VT in the 31 years I have lived there. My house was shaking and rumbling and then there were softer rolling tremors for many seconds after that. It is very rare where I live though.
