Easiest majors?

Here, it’s the physical education major that is a joke. Most people at my school know what their major will be at the end of 1st semester of freshman year. People go with what they’re good at, so the math/science majors avoid having to interpret symbolism and metaphors like the plague, and us liberal arts majors are first to admit that we couldn’t read a chem equation to save our lives. I think it’s because we don’t have a whole lot of people who were AP scholars that excelled in every subject in high school.

All the art majors I know seem to spend their entire day in the studio, and I know music majors who practice until the music school (and therefore practice rooms) close for the night. Classics majors also end up doing a lot, and they spend hours doing work for their classes.

I guess at least here, Communications would probably be one of the easier ones. I would say sociology, but I do know they have faculty with very high standards, so it’s not necessarily an easy 4.0.

Personally I’m dreading my stats class that I have to take next semester (I absolutely hate Core requirements).

Like someone already mentioned, it all depends. I’m a communication major (not communications) and I can’t do math or science worth a *****, but I have friends who are chemical engineering majors that can’t write a decent paper to save their lives.

Would colleges (say if I want to transfer) like to see a Biochem major with a 3.3-3.6ish as opposed to a communications/(insert other easy major here) with a 3.8-3.9? Who would be viewed more favorably? This is assuming Biochem is a much harder major.

Oh, forgot to add.

American Studies.

Recreation and Leisure Studies. What the frick?

What is that, someone who helps decide the shows for the Cheers and Jeers list for TV Guide each week?

You think I have any idea? Although it would be funny for someone to do something like a double major in Astrophysics(not offered) and Leisure Studies.

I think the Recreation and Leisure Studies major sets people up for careers in community development? Iono…major extrapolation there possibly.

depends on what classes you have completed…just because you’re a biochem major doesn’t mean your english 101 class was harder than it was for a sociology major.

communications/sociology/american studies/women’s studies

Art history, communications, most “studies” majors

These people usually have a hard time finding a job right out of college and are often forced to become teachers. That’s not to say that they are bad majors. If you are interested in these subjects, then by all means major in them.

Sociology is easy because it’s one of the only majors that isn’t so far removed from actual society. Studying sociology and living your life go hand in hand…that’s why it’s not tough. Psych isn’t that hard of a major once you get passed the prerequisites. English isn’t hard. Speech isn’t hard. History isn’t hard. The thing is, the easy majors are the ones that involve more writing than tests and remembering theories and formulas.

Another easy major is Journalism.

Chemical Engineering is outrageously hard.

AH is hard, actually.

One of the easiest majors is Elementary Education. Studying how to educate elementary students? Come on. My cousin is majoring in it and she wrote a paper on Dr. Seuss and reading out loud to a class.

I’ve heard that at our school Business is the easiest major, maybe that has something to do with the fact that (just about) EVERYBODY is taking it.

I’ve heard somebody say that their sister was completing a major in “Consciousness” O_O

All of our athletes major in Sociology, Anthropology, African American or Women’s Studies, or Marketing. And the one sociology-type class I toook was total BS, the professor and TA’s actually gave out “A+” grades to almost everyone and put smiley faces on everything.

women’s studies? maybe that depends on the school you’re at. i took the intro class…hardest stuff i’ve ever tried to understand. feminist theory is definitely not a joke

it is to me :)

seriously just look at what your athlete’s are majoring in and voila, those are your easiest majors.

people who say engineering, math, physics = sociology, psychology, liberal arts are full of it. Takes much more brains for those majors, tahts why there’s such a huge drop rate and grade deflation.

*i’m not an eingeering, math or physics major :)

What about English? Do you all think that English is easy or hard?
