brainygotback/ wtheck. it’s 21 percent acceptance rate for heaven’s sake, and Arts&Science (the major one) has something between 14-17% rate. other ivies don’t even have stuff like ILR, Hotel, Agricultural colleges so it’s not really comparable.

and you obviously haven’t read the post, just the topic.

Yeah, I’m leaning towards a private school over a huge state school.
(I feel it will be harder to meet people at a state school that isn’t in the state I live in)

Oh and the more I think about it the more I think a strong social life will mean to me.

I want to go out and have lots of fun, and probably be in a frat while still having a good education.
My sister went to SMU and loved it, and I would love to go somewhere similar to there but a little more liberal.

When I say prestigious I mean a college most have heard of, and alot think highly of.

I don’t mean Harvard because thats not realistic…

I know I’m not the smartest guy on here, but I’m one of the smarter kids out of my group of friends and will end up at what most consider a good college.

oh, and i got into most of these schools, except vandy, uva, w&m, w&l…and american! i know, that was completely out of left field. i would call most of them “prestigious” to some degree. dickinson is a great school, you should look at it.

Beautiful campus, everybody has heard of, good academics, lively social life, not hard to get into, great college town: U of Kansas, Indiana U., U of Colorado.

Others to consider: U of Massachusetts, Clemson, Fordham, Oregon, Georgia, Iowa, Ohio State, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Florida State, Purdue, Virginia Tech. Some of these get a lot of the very top students in their state (but they also get a lot who aren’t tip-top students, too).

Hi, I am just wondering what the best schools that I could get into (based on prestige). I have an unweighted of 3.83 and weighted of 4.61, and I have done a few extra curricular activities, such as: an executive board position for my city’s youth council, reading buddies (read and assist struggling elementary students, marching band through high school, bio- engineering camp, beta club, national honors society, served as a juror for teen court through an organized program, and I am going to join student council this year. Im also enrolled into North Carolina School of Science and Math’s online program. I dont know if this helps, but I am an African American male, and I’m leaning toward the medical field. With this alone, what colleges would you recommend.
