I’ve done it where I eat two very small meals…about 150 calories at lunch and 350 at dinner. But I find it easier to do one 500 calorie meal at night. I never eat breakfast on any day and I often don’t even feel hungry until I start eating.
I probably eat less. Protein bar for breakfast and then for lunch and dinner. I eat low carb which is usually salads and/or meat. The difference is that I don’t have access to all the snacks I have at home, so honestly I probably eat less.! And generally our vacations involve a ton of walking, hiking, or skiing so we are BUSY.
Normally I eat carefully and track calories/nutrients and exercise (with MyNetDiary app). On big vacations I splurge a bit on food and alcohol… and don’t track.
I eat and drink more on vacation. At home I try to eat in a noon- 7 time window. On holiday I’ll eat breakfast and eat dinner later. I rarely drink at home but will sometimes have a cocktail or glass of wine with dinner when I’m on vacation. At home I limit sweets and bread to 2 days a week. On holiday I don’t keep track.
Another difference is on vacation I will often get a mocha in the afternoon.
I feel it’s all offset by doing a lot of walking.
I find the only time I gain weight while away from home is if I’m visiting certain family members. We have one in particular where we eat out a lot but don’t get enough exercise.
