ECE vs CE

No, no, no. You can do CS at UR:

You may take some hardware courses as electives in ECE to satisfy your interest if they allow. It looks like they have cross discipline for CS - ECE

They have a great program there.

the thing is…i’m trying to avoid majoring in CS because CS is too abstract and theoretical
i prefer to work with hardware, but i would like to have some knowledge of software as well…which is why i think CE is the best option, because it’s evenly balanced between hardware and software

The one at UB is software-oriented. I won’t give you enough knowledge to work as a hardware engineer.

Another option: Take ECE and CS minor at UR.

Eventually you have to work in either hardware or software. You cannot do both. You can but it’s rare.

hmm, ECE major + CS minor…sounds good, maybe i’ll do that, thanx

No problem. You can try that route first. You can change later too.
