<p>I believe you can only apply to one of the schools in NYU. That is, if you declare yourself a ED candidate to Stern you cannot apply to or be considered for CAS. Historically, the only exception to this was when students applying to CAS got accepted into the Liberal Studies Program (though this may be changing this year since applications are now filed directly to LSP for the first time). Also, NYU CAS students with Engineering and Computer Science interests have been referred to and accepted to NYU Poly.</p>
<p>Regarding the second part of your question, I gather you are referring to the Business and Political Economy (BPE) Program at Stern, which has the global studies and study abroad components. This program at Stern directly accepts 25-30 students.
I am not sure if you are considered for other programs within Stern if you do not get into BPE. Somehow, I think the applications for various programs are separate. Here is the link from the Stern BPE website that addressed this somewhat:</p>
<p>"If I get into BPE and decide that I would prefer to be in another program, can I switch?</p>
<p>All admissions decisions made by the admissions committee are final, so you may not switch to Stern’s core Business Program/any other programs if accepted to the BPE. For that reason, it is important that you determine which undergraduate program at NYU is right for you before you apply. Visit the NYU Stern Undergraduate College and the NYU Office of Undergraduate Admissions web sites for more information."</p>
