Given your circumstances, I don’t see why you would take on any uncertainty financially and apply ED, being locked in to whatever they come back with. If the school offers both, and the coach’s support is the same for either round, then why do you feel ED is required? Plus, it sounds like she would get in academically without any coach support.
EA would allow you to apply to backup options if the financial piece does not come through.
