Incidentally, to not just be a downer . . . your sort of profile is one that I think a lot of great public engineering colleges are happily looking for. Just in very crude terms, I think a lot of public engineering colleges generally ranked significantly higher by most engineers than McKelvey are going to have a lot enrollees with 600s SAT ERWs and good-but-not-the-best grades in non-STEM classes. And I think it is very possible your SAT Math and top grades in Math and Physics could get you way up that list, even out of state.

So that is part of what I am wondering about. Why bind yourself to McElvey when you likely have a better chance at some better-regarded public engineering colleges?

And I am not saying it is impossible to have a good answer to that question, but so far I don’t see an answer in what you have told us.
