Hey everyone! I am applying to Bowdoin ED2…and I was wondering if anyone knew what the accept rate is for ED2…is it comparable to the accept rate ED1? Does applying ED2 really give a big leg up compared to RD?

Hey,

I applied ED2 last year.

IMO, the acceptance rate should be comparable to ED1’s rate of 25%-30%. Bowdoin aims to admit between 30-40% of the incoming class during the Early Decision process. I believe the school pays more attention to URM’s and athletes during ED2. However, this is only a thought. Not many URM’s apply early anyway but it bodes well for Bowdoin number wise if the URM yield is high.

I think the Adcom is more self-selecting during the Early Decision period. Whether ED gives you a leg up compared to RD is relative. Even though the ED acceptance rate is higher, many ED applicants obviously have displayed a very strong interest in attending Bowdoin and the vast majority of applicants are within the range of the Adcom’s academic targets (SAT/GPA).
