<p>Compared to larger universities, there are a relatively small number of Asian-Indian males at Bowdoin. I don’t know whether this will give you an advantage. However, being a first-generation college student is a big plus. IMO, the Adcom considers this more important than one’s URM status. The College has become increasing more conscious of class and parent(s)’ educational backgrounds in recent years, hence the no-loans policy. Also, race/ethnic-conscious admissions is a more sensitive subject than first-generation status.</p>
