You are right tfm2011 one of the main reason’s the ‘Ivies’ are up for ED is students have realized they have a much better chance of getting in percentage wise than RD.

As far as Elon is concerned I, as well as my S, visited the campus this time last year and loved the video, info session and tour guide. My S was accepted RD at Elon, he was top 7% and had solid scores. However, it was very noticeable that some of the higher level female students did not get in. I questioned this and found out students that did not show interest ie college visit, met with regional rep at the HS during the fall visit, or any correspondence with Elon were not accepted. Elon is an interest school as most you on this board know.

He did not end up attending Elon, but two of his good friends are there and LOVE it! One was top 10 out of 450. It truly is a wonderful place to spend four years of your life.

One last note about the new approach, many students visiting there recently are coming away not as impressed as previous years. I agree with the ‘if it is not broke, don’t fix it’. I have suggested Elon to a number of Virginia residents and they each have said beautiful campus, great place, but were not impressed with the info session. Bring back the video it was a perfect way to convey to prospective students what Elon has to offer and what it is all about. My S still remembers the core features and I too cried while watching it.
