My d was deferred EA and admitted RD. We did not go to visit until after acceptance due to the distance and my daughter’s play rehearsal schedule. We could not make the school reception in our state which was 5 hours away due to a conflict. My d called immediately after notice of her deferred status and talked with her admissions rep following up her call with a note. We did want her rep to know of her interest. Quite miraculously her spring break was the week she was accepted and we flew up to see Elon at that time, returning a few weeks later for a Phoenix Friday for accepted but undecided students. She needed to know she could go that far away, dealing with multiple flights and shuttles as well as fit in socially. She loves Elon. When she was home at Thanksgiving I asked her what was the biggest surprise to her about college life, she answered how easily she adjusted and felt connected. As a parent it doesn’t get much better than that. This long winded, too much info response is just to assure you there is not just one path towards acceptance.
