Email Notification?!

Not a penny.

I have gone outside, pulled down my pants and pointed my cheeks east towards Washingon D.C.

And that is the end of A.U. for M.E.

I was accepted. I only got the email notification so far, though.

im goin nuts here. no email. no mail.no nothing hopefully the mail will come later today or i will get an email atleast and hopefully this just had something to do with me being an international.

Accepted, but $0. EFC was high due to savings, but dad lost his job and mom teaches 1/2 day elementary (so savings have been burning). Sent a special considerations letter, but the response is $0. Congrats and good luck!

How are you all finding this on your portal? I checked my D’s portal and it still says her application (for admission) is pending (she got an acceptance e-mail) and there’s nothing under FA for 2007-08. Clicking on “Fall” says I’m not authorized. Are those of you assuming you’ve gotten no aid finding something that tells you that in no uncertain terms, or does it simply say there’s nothing in the portal?

For those who have received an email, does the application status on the portal change?

Proud Dad -

If your D has been accepted, then she needs to start a student portal (different than the prospective student portal) using her AU id number (which can be found in the prospective portal, I believe on the right side…)

Go to my.american.edu and scroll down to the very very bottom and click on ‘Create new account’ to get started.

All of the different information (finances, etc) can be found there. For more information on what needs to be done once logged in, view the check list at admissions.american.edu on the ‘Admitted Undergraduates’ tab

Hope that helps!

my portal hasn’t changed…i haven’t gotten an email…this wait is driving me crazy…

elkir…i feel your pain! ANYTHING would be nice at this point! UGHH

…I didn’t need to create a new portal. The merit and financial aid info just showed up in the one I made for the application process. My application status hasn’t changed on the site yet, though, but I received an email acceptance.

I called them today and they said they were doing the emails in bunches. She expects all the emails to be sent out by next friday or the beginning of the following week (26th) at the latest. She doesn’t know if they are sending out rejection emails or not. I would assume everyone that has gotten an email so far has been accepted, and they are likely the very best candidates that the school received.

Thanks so much! you made me feel so much better!

It’s only ridiculous in how sporadic the notifications are and everyone’s different experience in getting information from the school website and portal. I just checked again. Nothing on the prospective student portal and no “7-digit” AU student number anywhere to begin the student portal process. It makes no difference yet as we have no other financial aid information to compare it to yet, anyway. It just seems so…random.

yeah wow i was getting very nervous and anxious since i had not heard anything yet but knowing it is in bunches is a bit reassuring…

Do we get an AU ID even if not admitted? I went to the screen for “Financial Aid Award Package” and saw the ID. Since I did not apply for financial aid, there is no info under the financial aid headers.

Which ID? The one you used when you applied as a prospect? Or the “7-digit” one you need to open the student portal?

I mean the 7-digit ID. The one I used for the prospective student portal was my email address.

Oreo -

Yes, I had a 7 Digit AU ID even before I was admitted in my prospective portal. I believe you are assigned one in the beginning, and then it is the same if/when you are accepted…

If you’re still feeling anxious and want an answer that desperately, I suggest calling whoever your AU rep is. I’m not sure about kids in DC but anybody applying from out of state should have a seperate rep that reads and handles your application. I had an error on my application and actually got a very nice confirmation email from mine telling me he would personally fix the error.

Thanks! Found it. Hiding in the corner of the Financial Aid section of the Prospective Student Portal. I plugged that in to the Student Portal, filled in all the blanks, and then logged in again to get to the personal information. Scholarship offers were under 2007-8 in the same spot they hadn’t been in the prospective student portal. I’m pleased with the offer (Dean’s Scholarship and AU Grant) but we’ll have some comparing to do. Anyone seen 2007-8 figures for costs? Is the best guess 2006 plus 6% listed on the AU website, or has something official been announced? Thanks again.
