I would like to add that if we should notice anything out of ordinary about people we know, do something, even if it maybe out of abundance of caution.
Y’all have jinxed us. We have a missing co-worker who didn’t come back after lunch. He usually - but not always - tells the guy who works for him if he’s taking leave time. He will always tell our boss. But our boss is on vacation, and his office is under renovation, so nobody really knows what to do this week with paper copy leave slips. (Our big boss insists on paper copies in addition to the digital timesheet.) I’m unofficially next in charge.
I’ve got his underling texting/calling a few people and checking a couple of spots, but then I’m going to call our HR person to see if they can see his digital time sheet. He probably would have entered the time in there - but again not always. For appointments, we usually do those after the fact since we don’t know how long they’ll take. But at least we can get the ball rolling.
I did already try calling the HR person before I sent the underling on his mission, but she’s at lunch. She does have our updated emergency contact info, plus the missing co-worker’s S also works for us. It’s probably nothing, but you never know.
I recall one story where someone was found dead (of natural causes) at his home days later because coworkers did not initially notice him missing, because many of those in his group were on business travel to a conference or something (so those remaining assumed that anyone not present was at the conference).
The update is that he has been located and all is well. It was a doctor’s appointment
He called his underling a worried mom. I told him I AM a worried mom, lol. We got a good laugh.
