Emory ED1 Class of 2015

yeah lou, h-town represent

As a current Emory freshman I just want to say congrats to everyone who got in!!!

To those who didn’t it’s not the end of the world and there is always the opportunity to transfer.

I remember getting in and as a lot of you are saying it is SUCH a surreal moment, sometimes I STILL find myself smiling thinking I go to Emory. However, last week when I was studying my life away for finals reality definitely set in hahaha.

Can’t wait to see you guys next year!! Class of 2014 loves youuuu  :)

i CANNOT believe i wasn’t aware of the existence of this site until now. the day after decisions haha i feel like life would have been better if i had been following this thread! literally NOBODY i know applied ED. glad to know i’m not the only one who is obsessed with Emory!!
i got accepted to ED at main campus yaysies
and congrats to everyone else who got in! see you in the fall!!!

out of the people who applied for financial aid, has anyone received award notification yet?

How long does it take to get package from Emory?

does everyone’s admission decision say “undeclared” for the major at this point??? or does that mean that you didn’t get the major that you chose… i’m pretty worried right now…

You wont get an actual financial aid package for a long time (2 months or maybe longer) although you will get estimates sooner.

Yes, everyone should have an undeclared major. You don’t have a major yet, but you have to apply for one by the end of Sophomore year.

thanks aluminum boat. but what about the major that you put on your common app when you first applied to emory?

also, is it still possible to apply for financial aid if you did not turn in the 2009 Parent Tax Return by Nov. 15??

aizj, on the Emory supplement nowhere does it ask for intended major. On the CommonApp under FUTURE PLANs, it asks for 3 academic interests and 1 career interest.

thanks aluminum boat. but what about the major that you put on your common app when you first applied to emory?

That’s more of an interest gauging thing than anything else. You’re still matriculating as an undecided/undeclared Freshman.

Yea, just turn you’re financial aid stuff in a little late… You might be a little lower on the priority scale, but you still have a shot. The sooner you get it in, the better. Once Emory starts receiving its RD apps, they’ll have very little time to do stuff that was your fault.

If you got the other financial aid stuff on time and are just missing the tax returns, you’ll have a much better chance.

Either way, get it in ASAP

Okay, I understand about the ‘undeclared’ now- Thanks Aluminum and TJ. Are both of you going to be incoming freshmen at Emory?

Aluminum- The 2009 parent tax return is the only financial document I didn’t get in by the assigned deadline, (I turned in my CSS Nov.1), but the thing is, the 2009 parent tax return form did not show up on my Opus To-Do list until a few days ago. Before that, everything on my To-Do list said “Completed”… So I immediately mailed in my parent tax return form after I saw it on my To-Do list. It is already past the due date now, I don’t know why it wasn’t on there before the Nov. 15 deadline??

Also, is there a Financial Aid office e-mail address that I can send questions to? Or is it based on the alpha-split e-mail addresses listed here: <a href=“Financial Aid at Emory | Emory University | Atlanta GA”>Financial Aid at Emory | Emory University | Atlanta GA; ?

I think you’ll be okay. I wouldn’t bother the office as of right now. They’ll call you if there’s a problem.

If you don’t get an estimate by February 1, hit them up and ask. But right now, you’ll just annoy them.

I go to Emory already. But TJ is.

Oh, and make sure you send in the student tax returns too… If you don’t have any, send in a note saying you didn’t make enough money to file taxes… And remember to sign them. I forgot lol.

You guys will probably have send in 2010 tax returns too. Sometime in March or whatever.

Don’t worry about that, though. Just check Opus and do what they ask. And enjoy your last semester in high school.

Shouldn’t we get the estimate BEFORE the 1/15 deadline since that’s when you need to turn in your deposit and acceptance card?

Oh awesome, how do you like it so far? Freshman?

Also, when it says “your final acceptance into Emory is conditional upon your semester grades and your final high school transcript”, how high do your grades need to be to fit their standard?? Pretty worried about that right now…

Oh yea, I meant to say Jan 1st. Sorry.

Yep, I’m a Freshman. I love it. It’s ****ing hard though.

You’ll be okay with C’s (trust me people ask this question every year). A “D” might get you looked at but you’ll be okay probably. However, don’t put yourself in that situation. C is the lowest you should be (up to 2). Felonies will screw you over.

bumppp.

any texans here that got into emory??

aizj726, I’m from Austin, and I know there’s another girl coming from Houston. Where in Texas are you?

I’m coming in from Dallas.
