so i know that technically missouri is the west but is it a southern school? party atmosphere sounds fun.

what about other southern schools like vanderbilt, emory, washington and lee (they seem to be a little bit easier to get into) how are they for ibanking (prefrably in NYC or out west)?

i always though wash u wasnt that hard to get into but just checked my college book and acceptance ratio is 19%…comparable to uva, gtown ect

its actually kinda funny. in the princeton review college guide on the social life section for washington and lee it says that you will be sitting around talking with future investment bankers…for such a small school they seem to have a preaty good program?

i think the south would be better (just speculating as far as overall college experience, not so much ibanking recruitment, although thtat is important) than the midwest. any thoughts on vanderbilt?

I am just thinking if i am going to pay private school tuition, probably sticker price, it better be somthing preaty special. i wouldnt want to spend, or have my parents spend, that much money for a medioker school.

Vanderbilt is a great school overall, but it does not tend to attract elite recruiters, like other colleges in the top 20. If you want Ibanking and out of those college’s that you listed, ranking qould be somethign like :

WashuU>W&L > Vanderbilt

Of course this is percentage-wise.

If business is your thing, you should definitely look at Emory and Wake Forest because they also have great party scence’s and good business programs. For some reason Vanderbilt is not ranked in the top 50 colleges that send kids to elite grad schools, but W&L is along with WashU, so that is something to consider.

thanks. good link. so where would emory fall, higher than vanderbilt but lower than w&L? Im still kind unsure about where i want to go and am just looking into options.

I was looking through the vanderbilt site and it dosnt seem like they have undergrad business? I guess that could be why they dont attract ibanks? but thats not the only thing i care about and vanderbilts admissions stats are a lot closer to mine than wash u. i am moreso looking for match schools that i would still want to go to but also have a good chance of getting in. My reach schools are the same as everybody else so no reason to add more.

Emory definatly looks like a posiblity. Atlanta seems like a cool place and I think that regardless of recuriters its better than IU. But IU is quite a bit cheeper even for out of state.

Ive heard that emory is kinda of scary place (just rumors) but the area that its in and just atlanta in general?

Do you know anybody at W&L, I had never even heard of the school before this thread. But I assume they get recuiters and the alumni network seems good? Seems a little bit isolated in Lexington?

no man u gota go to ___________(insert crappy school here) thats where all the top companies go to recruit. everyone knows that the stupid kid reputation is a facade and in reality all the smart kids go there over harvard. dont worry if u work hard u will make it. just remember what that guy in deuce bigalow male jigalo ( i tink it was dis movie) said, YOU CAN DOOOOOOO IIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!

Disclaimer: I am drunk and high at the same time and am totally @*(&%@#(& around please disregard this post unless u r a ■■■■■■ and belive what i say.

WashU >/= Emory > Wake Forest > Vanderbilt … I don’t know enough about W&L. Rgs321 is exactly right, but, one visit to Emory will do more justice… beautiful area of Atlanta and aesthetically pleasing campus.
