#1 hands down for me. We are passionate baseball fans and I miss spending time at the ballfields watching my S play Little League, HS ball, and American Legion ball. He was also quarterback for his (small) HS football team that went undefeated in the regular season his senior year. Such fun times! D did 10 years of dance. I don’t miss long afternoons spent in auditoriums for recitals and competitions, but I do miss the thrill of seeing her blossom on stage. I credit dance for contributing to her self-confidence in high school and college.
We still vacation together at the Jersey shore with the whole family and do some traveling together. And I am getting my toddler fix from my GD - which is plenty!!
#1. I’ve mentioned to DH that I kind of miss even just picking them up from practice. DD2 did some theater in college, so we got a little bit more there.
For vacations, so far we’ve still done that, last one was in January with both fiance’s able to come too. I think they want to try to continue, especially to Disney- I don’t think we are allowed to go there without them.
Our school district did not permit parent attendance. Also if there’s an official Quiz Bowl, it was not that… this was more of a generic duplicate that where we competed with just a few other local schools.
I’d pick #2, but it’s something we still do. We have a great vacation place and the kids will always come there to visit for at least a week in the summer.
My D performed sports at a very high level (she was in national competitions in her sport). I never would want to go back to that. I often couldn’t watch because I was so nervous for her. She now works for the governing body of her sport and I went to a national competition recently that was in New England. It was so nice to watch the competition and feel relaxed.
My kid didn’t really do sports (did ballet though) and we still take family vacations together so if it’s just for a visit, I’d go back to the toddler years and make videos to capture the wonderful and hilarious conversations of that age! I only took photos; videos just weren’t on my radar.
#2 for sure; there are so many things we still want to experience with her but haven’t been able to because of illness, school or time. We want to take her to Slovakia and Hungary. Slovakia for my family and Budapest is DH’s favorite city. We’d love to take her to a few Christmas markets.
