I suggest “rump.”

“Keester”.

Definitely not “ass” or “butt.” “Rump” strikes me as the funniest, polite possibility.

“fanny” (10 char.)

NOOO fanny, means something REALLY different in Ireland…no no no

As an adult, “behind” is okay, posterier is good

I used the f-word in an admissions essay

“pink derriere”? Ha ha, who is he writing to, Louis the XIV? You don’t want to sound like a aristocratic Frenchman do you? Just use buttock, it’s more acceptable and less formal. Don’t take yourself that seriously in your essay, you did fall on your behind afterall, using “derriere” takes the fun out of the incident.

Don’t use the “F-bomb.” Very crude. I understand that it is used in strong emotional moment, but it shows a lack of prudent. I’m sure there are alot better words to use beside the F*, it will not give you the respect of the reader.

especially with certain ‘pruder’ readers. remember that theyre respected people working for a respected school. sure, they expect you swear on your own time but not in a formal forum

definetly don’t use ass.

Use good Britain word bottom or backside.

rump would be good.

Sounds like the OP has already made his decision . This was discussed last year when a poster wondered if it would be appropriate to use profanity in an admissions essay. The overwhelming recommendation was not to use profanity. Even though a few of you have said you did so successfully, it isn’t really a great idea, when another word can be used with little change to the tone, meaning or intent.

past discussions

Just use ass. It’s not used in an offensive way. Those application reviewers are people too.

I’d use either bottom, buttocks or rear

using the f word was a joke, btw.

and i used rear. i didn’t want the humor surround the word but rather the incident itself.

thanks :)

no problem
