Essay Topic

New to forum and was wondering what was the topic other people used for undergraduate essay.

I talked about wanting to change the world. I didn’t get into Harvard, though.

Nusi,
I know that one of the hardest challenges I faced while an undergraduate at college was choosing an essay or report topic. You can either pick a topic that is known to have been successful in the past or choose one that has been used very little. You could also ask others for ideas or go to your local library. I researched undergraduate essay topics, here are a few of the links I found that may be ideas for your topic:

Hope this helps,

Do you mean an admissions essay? I’m going to assume so… I talked about a time in my life that was really meaningful, and tied it into my interest and goals in math and music (piano/composing), both in terms of what I’ve done so far and what I want to do in the future.

One of my essays was about my first day of school in 3rd grade and basically my transition from an all black school to a predominantly white one. Weird, I know.
The other one was about my superstitions (wearing the same socks before basketball games, same track shorts, etc).
My biggest advice would just be pick something personal to you. Dont write generically. Go back and read your essay after you’ve written it and ask yourself “Could anybody else have written this essay?”. If the answer is yes, rewrite.

Both my kids so far, completely independent of each other, have written about how they played as children. Pretty down to earth and personal, not about solving world hunger or anything. The didn’t research topics, actually, but they did ask my opinion at some point, about the topics they had thought up.
