Etiquette Experts - Do I send a thank you for a thank you?

Can a thread in the cafe go more than 8 posts before going off the rails?

The OP has been here a while and did not pass the bar yesterday. Let’s give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she knows what policies her company and the state bar has in place for these types of situations. Regardless, it was not her question.

OMG. I do things like this all the time for people! The risk of any disciplinary action is so minute! I agree with skieurope that this has gone off the rails. I’m sure the OP is in no danger of disciplinary action. I would acknowledge the gift card with a thank you- either verbally or email.

Y’all are getting way too worked up about this. I have been licensed “forever” and can handle myself, rules-wise. Trust me, I have angered relatives by declining, when they have asked for free legal advice for out of state matters, even though in my field.

Thanks for the advice, all.
