europe trip --estimating costs

Do check into short term apartment rental. Not only does it give you the feeling of being a “local” but it is usually substantially less expensive than a hotel of lesser quality.
Using a travel agent can prove to be a savings as they sometimes have access to discounts that you can’t find on line and should anything go wrong- and something always does (even it it’s a cancelled flight)- they can make things right far quicker than you can. Don’t use your cell phone in Europe- your roaming charges will be hysterically expensive; instead, pick up a cheap pre-paid phone over there and just drop in the SIM card and there you go.

We spent a couple of days in Copenhagen…it is our favorite city ! it is more expensive there than Sweden , but not outrageusly so. We stayed at a hotel near the main train station, which was fair. Booked it thru hotels.com honestly so I could use my Discover card , since it isn’t widely used in that country. We managed to eat inexpensively since we didn’t have anything other than sandwiches and snacks… The meals are pricey . Beautiful city and great for walking !
