Oh, I definitely don’t consider UCSD a safety, and I’m very aware that I could get rejected to every single college. Like previously stated, if that happens, I’ll go to my local cc and transfer in 2 years–it’ll save my family a lot of money, too. The thing is, I really don’t like the idea of a safety. I want to go to a school that will challenge me in many ways, with a generally highly intelligent student body. I’m not saying that everyone at a lower end UC is stupid, or that everyone at Stanford is a genius, but I really don’t think I would feel comfortable at a ‘safety’. Like, I’m not willing to spend the same amount for, say, Riverside as I would for Cal especially because transferring within the UC system is supposedly really difficult.

Basically, I acknowledge that I don’t have any safeties and I understand the risk, but I don’t feel good about applying just for the sake of applying.
