I’ve never met anyone face-to-face, but I know there were definitely some CCers at ISEF 2008 that I probably ran into during the pin exchange, hehe.

I’m pretty sure there are at least 2 other kids from my school on CC but I don’t have the nerve to ask them. Actually, I’m certain about one but yeah. :]

I met Oaklandmom, but that was arranged. I wanted to meet another CCer at Commencement, but too busy. My experience was so positive, I look forward to meeting others.

tokenadult, your profile says “Gender: not saying”. However, given your self-description as a “too much information guy”, you may have let the cat out of the bag! Sorry, you’re busted.

I’ve met a bunch of student CC’ers, but that is mainly because we were all in the honors hall my freshman year. So far I’ve only met one parent (on purpose), but it looks like we will have a get together at this years parent weekend for all of the CC parents at our school!

I live in the UK and a couple of years ago I met up with another CC parent (from the US) in Edinburgh where both our kids were performing in The Fringe. We’ve stayed in touch by email and in June my D and her S finally met and, as he put it, found it slightly creepy…

Mootmom came to my wedding.
(Invited, of course.)

One year during orientation I gathered all off the incoming MIT freshmen who posted on CC and had them over for pie.

I have given out my cell number to a few parents who wrote me for follow up information after my posts. Never regretted it so far. My son however thinks it is creepy that I am still on this website even though he has a 17 yr old bro applying to colleges next year-- so I have never ID’d my son or used our name.
I recognized three student CCers at accepted student days at Colleges we visited in April 05 but I refrained from scaring them by stating this. One of them was super obnoxious on CC I will add, so it was a hoot to see him up close in a mixer… and I will not give in to the temptation to ID that kid in this post. Tempting! OK…the nicest CC moment in real life…attending a national academic competition and hearing four boys from four states wax on about how much they cared about Andison. EVERY ONE OF THEM was really up on the details and had opinions on how to help Andison out of his jam. Reality was in all their eyes…it could have happened to any of them and Andison was entirely worthy of admission to colleges as much as anyone present and more so. (For newbies, Andison is now a happy MIT student but entered the Twilight Zone April 05 when it seems all his very competitive colleges waitlisted him and believed he was using them as a safety school…or they had too many applicants from Boston regions or whatever…he was highly qualified and ended up in a sort of waitlist purgatory that had a Gap Year resolution and a very happy MIT ending.

While I won’t list them, I can now say I’ve met/met up with at least seven CC moms on separate occasions (not counting a few who live locally that I knew pre-CC participation) who I have maintained contact with outside of public forums. They’re a swinging group, right ladies? There’s a couple of more with whom I hope our paths eventually cross.
