Ex-wife is custodial parent and it appears she is committing FAFSA fraud by hiding assets

Yeah, sorry should have specified that the $62K is AGI from tax return.

Yes my impression in reading this thread that there is some anti -divorced H sentiment in some of these posts. Not every ex-H is plotting to get his ex in trouble.
OP asked a good question and has genuine concerns.

I had an income of about $64k one year and was able to get AGi to under $50k with IRA and other contributions. For the simplified needs calculation, 401k, IRA, etc., is NOT added back in on the FAFSA. Once you qualify, you qualify.

If the EFC based on the mother’s income of $62k is under $2000, there is a lot of deducting going on before the EFC is calculated. I suspect simplified needs, but it could be a number of things.

I agree with @twoinanddone . A $62,000 income with one kid in college and a single parent home is not going to yield a <$2000 EFC.

Not every ex-H is plotting to get his ex in trouble.<<<<<<<<<

“Yeah, had considered reporting my ex-wife”

Just starting a thread on a public message board is pretty inflammatory IMO, no one is really anonymous.

Moderator’s Note: It seems the OP’s question has been answered so I will close the thread.

None of your business. Stay out of it.

If you’re that concerned, then offer to pay more for college.

Maybe she spent it. Maybe she moved it into retirement accts.

If her EFC is less than $2000 then maybe she qualified for simplified needs testing and assets didn’t get counted?
Does your daughter qualify for free/reduced lunch?

You sound bitter from the divorce. Find other things to worry about. Maybe get a girlfriend.

And stop using your daughter as a way to pry into your exWife’s doings. Bad form.
