Our school is coll/uncool about exams. Most of you prob know that public schools receive funds based on attendance most of the time. So, our school has a program where if you miss 3 or less days in a class and you have an A average for the semester (2 absences for a B, 1 for a C), you can “exempt” it (so your grade is based on 3 six weeks grades instead of 3 six weeks and a final). Freshman have 1 per semester, sophomores have 2 per semester, and juniors have 3 per semester. We can’t exempt the same class twice 9-11 grade. Senior year we have 3 exemptions in the fall, and we can exempt them all in the spring, regardless of what we exempted in fall. For me this is a life saver. I have 7 AP classes and the hard work I put into my difficult classes paid off so I didn’t have to take the worst finals.
