Extra-sensory perception

When I was 15, I went with Mom, Dad and Sister to India to visit my other Sister. When we got there, we all immediately knew it was a home we recognized; unquestionably this was a place we’d been before. When I went back again with my 15 year old son, I connected with one of his HS teachers on a psychic level. You can all think I’m nuts, but I got there and remembered past lives with him (son’s teacher and coach). I don’t care if anyone believes this, but, leal, the Edgar Cayce readings have, I agree, laid down the best evidence I’ve seen for reincarnation. I really am fine with other people having other beliefs that are true for them. I know reincarnation is true for me. It’s sort of like if you’ve been a witness to something, like you were there when the Red Sox won the series, and someone says, “Oh, you imagine the Sox won the Series?”. No, you were there, you saw it and you remember it. It’s not about making things up; it’s about being there and remembering.

beth, thank you so much! That is it exactly!!!

It’s like, think of any experience that happened in this life when you were a kid. Say you fell off your bike and skinned your knees when you were 10, and a dog chased you down the block. It was a pitbull that was chained and you thought you were safe, but then when the dog pulled its chain, horrors! the chain was not connected to anything. So then the vicious dog chased you down the street…

No way can you PROVE that this incident happened, but you KNOW it did, because it is one of your MEMORIES…

that’s how it is with people who’ve had past-live experiences.

We don’t need proof.

And for those who have not had such experiences, no amount of proof is going to convince them.

It’s an experiential thing.

Some of Sylvia Browne’s books are interesting also, “Life on the Other Side” being my favorite. Though there are things about her manner and style of writing I’m not crazy about, I’m convinced she’s connected to another dimension and does a pretty good job of translating it into language we can understand on ours. If you look into this stuff enough it all connects to the major religious teachings about heaven, Nirvana, karma etc. To me it’s like the blind people describing the elephant; they’re all correct, but they’re only “seeing” one part of the whole.

Hmmm… I predict that you can start a thread on any topic and get people to argue about it :D

Shhhh! Don’t tell. Getting them to believe that their mother does indeed possess these special powers was part of my secret recipe for raising kids all these years! ;)

roshke-
At our advanced age, do you think we should get lasix for those eyes in the back of our heads?

:D  :D

jym, Now there’s a thought! :)

“Some of Sylvia Browne’s books are interesting also, “Life on the Other Side” being my favorite…”

Funny, I’d vaguely heard of her but had never read any of her books, but then just 3 days ago a friend at work was all excited about that book and was telling me about it. Then yesterday I got the new One-Spirit catalog in the mail and they had all of her books. And now you mention it…

“To me it’s like the blind people describing the elephant; they’re all correct, but they’re only “seeing” one part of the whole.”

I agree. That is such a perfect example! I use it all the time.

From a previous post:

"… I think the problem is when people try to put truth, and God, in a box. It
is like the 4 blind men who encountered the elephant, the elephant
representing God.

The 1st blind man touches the elephant’s leg and says ‘An elephant is like
a tree’.

The 2nd blind man touches the elephant’s tail and says ‘No, you are wrong;
an elephant is clearly like a rope’.

The 3rd blind man touches the elephant’s side and says ‘You are both
wrong! An elephant is quite clearly like a wall!’

and the 4th blind man touches the elephant’s trunk and says ‘You are ALL
wrong! I alone am right; an elephant is definitely like a snake’.

I see religions like the 4 blind men, quarreling about who is ‘right’ in
their perception of God when in fact each of them has a PIECE OF THE TRUTH
and no one has ALL THE TRUTH.

God, and truth, is like a multi-faceted diamond - there are many sides,
many angles, and when held to the light erupts into prisms of magnificent
colorful rainbows.

It is sitting on 1 side of this beautiful diamond and claiming to know all
there is to know, that keeps one from experiencing the beauty of the
rainbows that come from that diamond…"
