Extremely Difficult Financial Situation, HELP!!!

An internship with a sports apparel company is something that I am going to pursue as an upperclassman. If I were to go to FIT I feel as though I’d be pretty locked into the fashion business, which I’m only interested in doing for a sports company due more to my background as an athlete than a strong interest in fashion.

Right now it seems like taking the next school year off, working for a year, finishing up JUCO next year, and applying to my target schools as an independent is the path that makes the most sense. I have a little bit of time to get better informed and make a decision though.

Sportswear is a sector or fashion, companies that you mentioned is in the business of selling sportswear apparel.

I understand that, with FIT I’d be worried that if for some reason I could not get a job that I wanted with one of those companies I’d have more limited options in terms of what I can do with my degree because I’d be somewhat confined to working in the fashion space.

Then I think that you should consider CUNY Baruch, SUNY Binghamton, Albany and some of the other SUNYS, which will end up being more affordable options especially if you are eligible for TAP (NYS aid) and Pell.
