The question I would ask is “Did you think you’d do well?”
There is one approach for when you are struggling with the material (talk to teacher, find on line explanations, get a tutor, etc) to ensure you learn the material.
If you thought you knew the material, you need to figure out how to do self-assessments prior to the quiz or test. I admit to having done exams confidently - and wrong! - because I hadn’t made sure I was doing all the work right. In that case, doing some problems or online quizzes can be a good way to figure out if you’re really mastering the material or just making mistakes again and again!
