Failed School Before This. What's EVERYTHING I can do now to make up for that?

U need a major (or semi-major) hook - i.e. intel, siemens, urm, tasp, etc

north: why senior year? do you mean first half of senior year. because 2nd half you’ve already sent in your app. and they can’t see anymore.

mabs: wat are u talking about?

All of senior year is important since you could be waitlisted for one of your top choices. Many colleges don’t stop taking students off their waitlists until mid summer.

In addition, if one’s grades drop a great deal second half of senior year, colleges will rescind one’s admission. All colleges accept students contingent on students’ having acceptable final grades.

Not very knowledgeable about this, but if you are dead set on Harvard or a school of its caliber what about applying for a major known by few and not a “flagship major” of the university?

I’d like to point out that not going to Harvard is not failing. It’s like winning at blackjack. All you can do is play the cards you are dealt based on what the dealer is showing. You can have a perfect SAT, ACT, and GPA from a competitive HS and not get in while someone with much lower stats can get in. Harvard doesn’t care about well rounded students but instead prefers a well rounded (though still uber-competitive) class. So they pick and choose from among thousands of kids from around the world to have kids with all different backgrounds. At your (the applicant) end, it’s random regardless of whether or not you had a 4.0.

so about the senior grades. i thoguht they only rescind if you drop drastically. even C’s are ok at Harvard once you get accepted…?

And there must be something wrong with the ‘major loophole’, right? some1 had to have tried that already. Can you switch majors once you get in? Dont you have to take classes according to that major for at least 1 year?

I’m saying a hook really helps u get into top schools like Harvard
