<p>My bad luck, my community college profs always picked new updated textbooks whenever I registered, so I had to spend A LOT of money on books. </p>
<p>Hopefully, UCI won’t update their textbooks like they did.</p>
<p>I could often get away with buying older (or sometimes international) editions. I did buy the newest edition for calculus, but it paid off since it lasted for 3 classes.</p>

4) 10!! I can’t wait! I’m also super annoyed that UCI hasn’t released the list of materials yet… I just wanna get started already.</p>
<p>@kb4692, did you check if your classes have a website listed on eee? Two of my classes do, and they list the required textbook… It’s a way to get around this long wait Or you can also look at the websites for the past quarters, just to have an idea of how the class is going to be.</p>

<p>@SBVett I have looked on EEE, and no luck. But, I’ve already looked at my classes’ past websites the day after I registered. I’ve already even looked over past tests and all. =)</p>
<p>@Blizzjazz1 - I will probably be taking 16 units, but a Chem E major is probably going to be in much more math/science heavy classes than I will be taking for my major. I would base your decision on a number of factors.</p>
<ol>
<li>Transition from semester classes to quarter classes</li>
<li>Number of expected hours you have committed to outside of school</li>
<li>Average number of hours you find that you need to prepare per unit/hour</li>
<li>Composition of your classes </li>
<li>Past experience in similar subjects</li>
</ol>
<p>I would consider all of those factors when scheduling yourself. Take it easy your first year transferring (not too easy), and get a feel for it. Then I think you will have a better feel for how many units to take.</p>

<p>I wouldn’t take more than 12 quarter units in the first semester, though.
12 units just eases the transition.</p>

4) 8/10. I took a summer course at Cal and did better than I’d thought, so that helped ease my nerves a bit.</p>

<p>Dude, it happens every year. There are dozens of new people on here a year before UC decisions talking about the UC app, TAGs, the Jan update,etc. But as soon as we hear from the UC during March-April, everyone leaves. And then we get new people for the new cycle of transfer applicants.</p>
