Do you guys know how many units people usually take in Summer session?
I’m planning to take 2 classes (10 units) in Session A, which is 6 weeks.
Is it going to kill me?
*one humanity class and an ethnomusicology class

wslasm, I’m doing the same, 10 in A, and 10 in B. You’ll now more about your ability to handle the load than we will. Personally, I offset both sessions with one major class, and one easier elective.

Hi can anyone help me? I submitted my SIR and filled out all the registration paperwork/housing paperwork online. I’m concerned because under the Star Rez housing portal (the one that shows the picture that you upload for the housing app), your name, student id, screen name, etc) I am classified as “Undergraduate First Year” even though I’m a transfer which means this will technically be my junior year in college. I’m gonna call them later today to ask about this but I’m worried because transfers have priority to the transfer housing guarantee and if the system processes me as a first year I could potentially be stuck in a dorm with freshmen…HELP! WHAT DO I DO!!!
@dannyn94 Dont worry every transfer has it as first year. Just means that we get guaranteed housing. Continue and you will see the option for transfer dorms.
@History2Law oh okay that makes sense. I already filled out the housing application which included ordering my 12 preferences for dorms, and I had the deluxe double/triple, which is the transfer housing, listed in the top 2. I don’t see the option for transfer dorms that you mentioned.
@dannyn94 if you list your 12 options, you won’t get put in for transfer theme. you specifically have to fill out the theme application with the essay and not the regular application.
@dannyn94 what lucky said is correct. I think you have till the 1st to change it even if you submitted the housing application.
@LuckyName Really? Because I selected my twelve preferences and now I cannot reset them. I really wanted theme housing, too.
@Stevieindb The option to selected theme housing was on the page before the 12 preferences. It also let you select other themes like humanities housing.
@LuckyName I accidentally filled out the normal application at first, and I just went back and redid the whole thing beginning with the theme app. I just submitted the updated application, but it still says that my submitted app was the first one that I submitted initially. Did I irreversibly screw up?
@History2Law @LuckyName Also, the next step after the themed housing app essay is to select the 12 preferences again…
I submitted my transcripts online about a week ago to be sent and the myucla website doesn’t even say it’s pending. As long as I sent it before June 1st I should be alright correct?
@dannyn94 Yeah, this is really confusing, after submitting the essay for themed housing, they require you to fill out 12 preferences, and now I cannot deselect them. I emailed them, hopefully I get a response before the application deadline.
@Stevieindb ah okay. Please keep in touch and let me know what they say. Congrats on getting into UCLA, I personally chose it over Cal. Hopefully I don’t regret that decision lol.
@xtyphoon Aw, I’m sorry buddy! Do you have a backup UC, or will you apply next year? What did you base your appeal on?

@dannyn94 Alright, I got a response already! Here’s what they said:
“Don’t worry filling out the 12 preferences will not prevent you from being placed in a theme community. As long as you indicate an interest and select the themes as well on your application housing will be aware of your preference.”
If I have 68 units and I take another class, one will have to get dropped. I have a C in a 5 unit science with lab class that is killing my gpa. Could I take another science class and replace the C?

Why do you have to drop one class?
You can transfer with more than 70 units as long as they are all CC units.
Replace the C in what?
Generally grade replacement at the UC level is a D/F, but I think there may be some cases of C- being replaced.
Is the class a major or IGETC course?
