“I think that is why we did not won tonight” doesn’t make sense. You had it correct the first time.
@LuckyName well if you read the full sentence, you would see that there are two cases in which the word “won/win” is used. Toward the end of the sentence, I said “one” instead of “won”. I corrected the second, not the first.
I don’t know how I missed that second one, haha.
I got a problem here, if someone could help.
I just got my FAN and it looks drastically different from my preliminary estimates. It went from:
Federal Pell Grant 5775
Cal Grant A 12804
University Grant 4558
UC Grant to Purchase Health Insurance 1930
Work-Study 2000
Direct Sub Loans 5500
Perkins 900
Direct Unbsub Loans 800
to:
Federal Pell grant 5775
Direct Sub Loans 5500
Direct Unbsub 2000
Parent PLUS 20,623
What happened? I understand they tell us preliminary values are subject to change, but how do I go from $0 to $20,623 in Parent PLUS loans, and no Cal Grant? There’s no way I can have my parents do this, they were not expecting this at all. Is it possible there’s some mistake here?
Post in the financial aid forum. Plenty of help there.
That doesn’t look right at all.
If I were to get my preferred housing from my CAR, and it’s cheaper than my current housing offer, would I be reimbursed for the payments I already made?
@shaneLer
I have no clue what happened, but that doesn’t seem right. If you’re still getting the Pell Grant then they are still recognizing your family income to have a low EFC. Call the FA office in Monday, and ask to speak to your FA advisor.
@LuckyName Yeah, but honestly I’m not expecting too much help here, this seems like something only UCLA FA office can help with. I’m only asking to see if maybe someone else was in similar circumstances.
@2016Candles I’ll do that. Crossing my fingers it’s not my fault. [-O<
I just reviewed my DARS on my MyUCLA and it says “IGETC Pending Receipt”. On my UC application, I said that I wasn’t IGETC certified. I never said that I completed the IGETC, but on my DARS it says, “you indicated you completed the IGETC”. I never indicated that I completed the IGETC. Do I have to contact the Registrar or the Counseling Depatment? I know that they make mistakes but I want to know who I should contact. I also transferred from a 4 year university.
@roxanne125 I’d just send them an email
@roxanne125 Contact the Admissions department.
BTW folks, please check your DAR very carefully. Every detail. D found that one grade was recorded incorrectly.
I shouldn’t contact the Registrar since they are in charge of DARS?
@roxanne125, Did you recheck your application? You may have checked the IGETC box without realizing it. Does your major require IGETC? Yeah, you need to contact them.
@roxanne125 My D had to visit Admissions, not the Registrar.
Or, have you had your orientation yet? You can always ask then
I checked my uc application. I checked the NO box. My major and college doesn’t require IGETC.
My orientation is on August 14. I might ask my counselor

Lindyk8- the completion is recommended. The igetc is recommended, but not required. Students who don’t get igetc certified have to complete courses at the UC. The thing is that I transferred from a 4 year university (CSULB).
