Fall 2015 UCLA transfer students

@Bearly “If approved, the change will be completed and cannot be changed back to the original assignment. Students will be notified by July 30th with a status update of their request.” I’m thinking we can’t go back if we get accepted. :confused: I’m still between the two. I guess fate will decide for us today!

@onmyway8 it says that to me as well when I click the CAR page. I don’t think it’s anything, because the application has closed. I don’t think you can see if the change went through besides if there are any adjustments on your bruin bill, or an email notification!

@Ellie64 thank you!! fingers crossed for us! :slight_smile:

OMG mine was approved too!!! I got a triple/private bath in De Neve!!! SOOO HAPPYYYY

Just called housing, if you didn’t get CAR notification don’t freak out! They’re still reviewing and it may take up to two weeks

@Bearly
If you just need to switch discussion sections, you have some options.

If you can find someone to switch with you, then you can email the TA and they can/ may informally switch you. BUT you have to switch with someone who has the save TA as you.

OR you can email the TA and ask if you can switch to another one of their sections.

OR you can try to register for the section u want after September 15.

YAY fellow de neve neighbors!!!

@onmyway8 @Ellie64 mine was not approved anyways, but I’m happy, I originally had De Neve and wanted to switch to a dorm (because dorms are cheaper than the plazas). But having a private restroom should be nice even if I have to shell out extra $$.

@2016Candles oh I was meaning to entirely switch the lecture as well, should have specified it. So like getting a new teacher and different lecture times. Hopefully it’ll be okay

Is anybody willing to switch from an off campus university apartment for on campus in RV plaza triple? I’m desperate :frowning:

what do you guys think of dykstra?? my CAR didnt go through, i got stuck there :((

@summertriangle Dykstra Hall is majority freshman, so I’m wondering how old you are?

But besides that, it is the closest dorm to campus. First building when you enter “The Hill” which is a huge perk because a much faster commute! Also it is newly renovated so it’s not an old building or anything.

The only thing is, I don’t believe it has air conditioning! Which I see as the only downside. And maybe living with lots of freshman if you aren’t into that (:

@Bearly you make a good point about the private restroom. That was a major point for me when selecting housing preference order.

I got an email a while back about applying for Housing Government Representative positions. Anyone else get that/apply for it?

I got one for GH @Platocrat

I’ve been trying to find information on whether or not Sproul Hall has air conditioning, but besides some old YouTube videos, I haven’t had much success. If not, can we setup our own AC (Doubt it)?

@CCCUCIVYLAW

I do not think of the residential halls have air conditioning. And I know at Dykstra, one of the other res halls, it states you cannot bring a personal AC unit.

Hm, on the email I got, it didn’t say if I got De Neve EF or BD… wonder if there’s any way to find out before I get my actual room assignment :confused:

Hi all, I’m wondering if it’s wise to book a flight departing before the quarter ends. Fall quarter ends on Dec 11th. Does it work to take finals early & leave on Dec 08th. Any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you

What are some cheap hotel options around UCLA?

@Dillpickles123 here is a starting list. We used to stay at the Hotel Angelino, which is three minutes from campus by car. They usually have special rates for UCLA families.
There is also airbnb.

@hbui7626

Most profs won’t let you take the test early. They may not even have them prepared til the week of finals. Theses finals are not like CCC finals. You’ll want the extra time!
