Fall 2016 Transfer Thread - Cornell University

@socoutmia CAS, but I think Cornell may have tossed my application into the trash already. I’m worried but if the worst scenario happens I’ll go to UNC Chapel Hill

@TNIU94 Chapell Hill is not bad! Are you in state for that? Or are you in TN? And why do you say that?? Did you apply late? I sent it my midterm report after deadline and a week after my app was sent for review. Granted I bugged them and email them nonstop. What major in CAS? I almost went for sociology but ILR is incredibly attractive to my end goal.

@socoutmia I’m out of state, I’m in IL. I applied for chemistry. I turned everything on time but since there are a lot of great qualified applicants applying to Cornell, my hope is kindda gone. Anyway, I couldn’t complain because I got a full ride from UNC. So I still have a place to go

@TNIU94 dang!! Remember is a holistic review! Don’t loose your hope!

@AimHighandFight I applied on March 13th I think and my application was marked completed at the end of march I think

Just for the record, I don’t know if that reset PIN thing definitively means that you won’t receive a decision soon. The night before I got my decision earlier this week, I tried it and just got an error. I got the decision the next day at 10am.

4/21 last year was basically rejection day… I felt pessimistic now about tuesday

@tiramisu2 well that makes everything more tense and nervewracking…

dammnit Cornell’s portal system.

@tiramisu2 What you said makes sense but you are a GT so that might play a factor

Do you guys know whether the finaid status affects the results or not?

Cornell I think is need-aware

Am I right?

Need blind for U.S citizens and extremely need-aware for international students

Well, shit…I’m international :frowning:

@AimHighandFight This is a little confusing. Actually I remember I see somewhere on Cornell’s website where it says it’s also need-blind for international students but they may not be granted the aid they need. So basically for international students financial aid is like merit scholarship?

“The process is need based, but in selecting which students will receive international aid
we also review again the admission application, including personal statement and
college interest essays, and activities/honors listing. Thus international aid selection is a
need based process that also takes into consideration demographic and school
information, as well as involvement, leadership, character, etc.”

@socoutmia I applied to 3 other reaches and 2 safety schools

@blackwidow22 I didn’t… Between application fees and financial aid fees it would have been too much! My hopes are here otherwise I will probably apply to GWU for spring transfer…

@socoutmia yes it is very expensive. I think I spent like $350 on application fees. I applied to other Ivy league schools and I don’t earn a lot so I won’t have to pay much financial aid since they are all need-based and I can’t afford it. Regardless of the Ivy League decisions I will transfer…worst case scenario is that I transfer to a local, private university
