Fall 2016 Transfer Thread - Cornell University

But according to last year’s trend shouldn’t there be almost all acceptances for next two weeks?

actually no. Next week is 50/50 week, then we get most acceptances week and lastly a LOT of rejections week.
This “trend” is really hard to see though because let’s remember we only know the results of a very small group of applicants here in CC. This “trend” can easily change since it depends on how many applicants are reporting in CC so it is hard to see it sometimes.

one thing I am confused:
according to the statistics of 2011, 1314 people applied to CAS and 99 of them were accepted. So the rate is 7.5%. But according to the current list and the trend (more acceptance next week), the rate is significantly higher than the statistics of 2011.

@architransfer - I only received my decision through the online portal on the 19th. Various bits of information have been sent through to me since then, but nothing especially useful about my academic standing for next year save the preliminary list of transferred credits. Worry not!

@hp2trnsfr You are very kind, thank you.

@socoutmia I had a pretty huge career track switch between my first and second semesters this year (astrobiology -> humanities), so unfortunately I am unsure how indicative my transferred credits list is of a larger, common trend. Nevertheless, I can say that 30 of my credits transferred, which is the upper limit Cornell will accept. I lost a one credit law seminar and a few credits off my first semester lab courses, which I expected, and my AP credits did not transfer. I did receive credit for all of the college courses I have taken towards my current major, however. I assume that Cornell holds a similar credit transfer policy across its schools, though I expect you may find the credit limit higher or lower in your own experience. I hope that is somewhat helpful!

@Luluoo Not a big enough sample on here to make any conclusions.

Also the people that post in this forum care more and are probably more qualified than the average applicant, thus the higher rate

Any news from the School of Engineering? I applied transfer from Vanderbilt with 3.9/4.0 GPA but have not heard back anything yet. :frowning:

Actually, most people got reject next week. The reason why you saw many people accepted on last year on cc is because response bias. Most people who got rejected during the last two weeks don;t even respond. So,

i think we should all just stop worrying about how what time our decisions come play a role in getting accepted or not… people have been both accepted and rejected on weeks that most rejections were sent out

Yep. At this point I think we can all safely say that we are at least competitive, and that alone is pretty cool

Waiting for Mechanical Engineering too. I wish they knew we here are the ones who want in so baad.

Is it worth it to send an update with second semester final grades?

I have that question on my mind. I did tell them to update my application for my recent internship and being a jkc semifinalist

This might sound dumb but i also saw some application errors on my essay. I corrected it and sent it to them with a very nice sounding email. To my suprise they replied, thanking me for the update and telling me they would add it so that the selection committe would review it.

The next day, I got another email saying it has been added to my file for review. Well, at least my nightmares of my application being flung out of the window because of grammatical errors can stop.

I just can wait to be done with my finals so part of my anxiety will end.

If they do not ask for course descriptions does that signify a likely rejection?

Any of you who were accepted received financial aid notification today?

Any CALS applicants still haven’t heard back? From what I’ve seen, almost every CALS applicants were accepted even during “rejection weeks”. Now I’m worried… lol

P.S., Any communication major here?

@Sumner I am a CALS applicant and I have not heard anything back yet.
My status on the transeval page says “Our records do not show you as an accepted student in CALS.” and I can not reset pin through the decision website.
So my hopes are not high, I guess.

@Sumner @Jennyruo . Dont give up hope. Decisions are not all out
