My SO’s stats for those waiting…
Junior transfer from 4 year top 50 private tech institution.
3.5 cumulative, 3.5 architecture (transferring into Physics)
Good LOR’s, solid HS and mediocre college EC’s.
HS GPA 4.2, SAT 2180
The Portal looks exactly the same, you’ll just have “accepted” instead of “under review” where it shows your application status.
were there any rejections? i’m so scared to look!!
Accepted to Elliot School…I was notified through my common app linked email to check my portal yesterday. They seem to send out notifications at the end of the business day to avoid a swarm of rejection questions, so dont bother torturing yourself by obsessively checking your email all morning. Hard copy admission letter should still be arriving in the mail along with transfer credit audit worksheet in a few days following your electronic notification. My financial aid offer also came through within minutes of the admission offer. As stated above, portal looks the same except that it no longer says “under review” and it now offers the next step of options. I called admissions last week and was told that everyone should be notified by May 2nd so you are so close! Dont give up!
34 yo transfer from a local community college
3.7 GPA
Strong letter of recommendation and non-traditional “why GWU” essay topic
various volunteer activities but mainly 16 years in the work force and a strong desire to be a serious student
Good luck, everybody! Best wishes on a speedy resolution to all…
@2011SatinSTI Enjoy the physics program! Lots of good people in that department between the professors, grad and undergrad students.
@NHuffer Thanks! It’s actually my fiancée who will be transferring in - she’s excited for the Physics program and the brand new sciences building. Were you studying physics during your time at GW? We would love to ask a few questions if so.
@2011SatinSTI Yes, I was at GW from 2007-2011 and received a BS in Physics. This was before the new science building, unfortunately, because I’ve been to campus a few times since its completion and it’s amazing. Feel free to shoot me whatever questions you all have. I still have a few contacts (both students and professors) in the physics program.
@NHuffer PM’d you! Thanks!
GW just reached out to me last night (weird because it was Sunday night) asking me for my last piece of document for my application. And he just emailed back saying app is complete now, so hopefully they’re reviewing and sending out decisions for the ones still waiting!
I remember the last time I was waiting on an admissions decision from GWU. May 15 2009, I just received my Associate’s Degree but hadn’t heard back from any school. When I was home for summer last year, as a back up plan I enlisted in the Navy. I knew I could back out so long as I didn’t step onto an airplane. I was shipping out on May 25.
Day comes and I head to the airport. When I landed in Chicago and made my phone call home to let them know I made it to boot camp, my dad told me that as soon as they got back from seeing me off, the mail had dropped off my acceptance package.
So yeah, their timing is kind of bad. Thankfully, this time I don’t have life altering changes hinging on this decision.
Didn’t they say that everyone will know by May 2nd?
Anyone else still waitiing? It seems as if everyone had gotten in already…
I am still waiting. They said we would know by mid May
I received an email saying I would be notified 9 May 2016
@flanlaw sounds about right. I just called and they said they are backed up, so they will be releasing decisions next week (he said he can’t give me the exact date) but it will be between Mon-Fri of next week. I’m so nervous! Does that mean that’s when rejections come with the last of the decisions or am i wrong?
I just heard from the financial aid dept about a question on my finaid app. Does anyone know if they even go through ffinaid info for an applicant for rejected applicants?
@ozonegirl112 I assume that they’ll look at financial aid for everyone that meets their “minimum” as that’s part of the equation on whether someone can get in. For example, Student A has mediocre grades. If FinAid determines they require no aid they should get a boost to their chances.
I sent my application and all my supplements in on March 1st.
