FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@xenoplanet Bro youve gotta think about this as a long term deal. Unless you are certain the you will have the same career and income opportunities attending UCI as you would UCLA, then there is no reason to save a couple thousand these next two years just to rob yourself who knows how much for the rest of your life, invest in your future!!! ~just my two cents

@xenoplanet I think it depends on the major and what you plan to do with your degree like I’m a soc major which isn’t going to be making me loads of money out of college but If I go to UCLA I’ll be commuting so I’ll be saving a lot of money then if I went somewhere cheaper but similar in program. I think if it’s something that’s going to have a likely pay off then go to UCLA but if it might not then maybe think about UCI. I think it could defiantly work out either way you go. Good luck!

@MikeSauce @hazeldarling I appreciate the input. I definitely have a lot of thinking to do on the matter. To clear things up, I’m an English major so the quality of the degree may not vary as much between UCLA or UCI like a STEM degree could. Logically I feel like UCLA is a much better choice, but shilling out 20k is really daunting

UCLA’s English department is fantastic - but anyway, do you plan to attend grad school? @xenoplanet

@goldencub I honestly don’t think so but it’s not out of the question

@Cheolf Please let us know what happens because I’m stuck in that situation also…I’m thinking of dropping one of my major req classes for philosophy also.

Accepted-
Major: Poli Sci

Good luck to anyone on the waitlist and those waiting on Berkeley, hello to my future college mates if Cal rejects me.

PS: What’s my chance for Berkeley as a Poli Econ major? Its more or less my dream school

@Philosoup wish I could be of more help, but I’m not really sure.
It was after I SIRed to UCLA, and once I clicked “accept”, there was a list of things I had to complete off a checklist, and it said “we received your high school transcript, but have not received the following etc”

@Mike2011 Huh on their website it says they start may 1st through the 15th. Yeah its tied for first with UCLA. I applied for Economics. I also applied to Harvard and Uchicago for the same major.

@xenoplanet if you don’t plan on going to grad school or anything higher then I would go to UCLA.

For those who are planning on attending UCLA in the fall for sure, where do you all plan on living? Dorms? Off-campus? It’s obviously pretty earlier to know considering most of us are waiting on Cal to respond back, but just curious!

early**

@psyphil12 I’ll send you a PM as soon as I receive a verdict.

@by3000 I’m living with my parents and commuting from the valley which is a long ass commute but I’m gonna save a shit ton

@by3000 live on campus but I can’t imagine having to share bathrooms with other people.

@Cheolf Thank you!

@hazeldarling wow, good luck with that! you’ll be making a lot of friends at UCLA I’m sure so just crash at a friends every now and then haha
@pereaa that’s exactly what I was thinking! Living at my parents house right now with my own bathroom, and it’s definitely gonna suck sharing bathrooms haha

Off campus definitely, way easier access to food and other stuff

By the way, how are you guys going to deal with parking within campus? The parking permit is based on a lottery draw and winners can buy it for $230 quarter, second-hand ones are $400+ I heard

@UCLA2016Bound Which major pre requirements did you not complete?
