FALL 2017 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@sc4589 pretty sure you just go to the application like you did in the beginning to view it and make changes!

Accepted my offer! I’m going to be living in the deluxe triple in DN. Im excited to meet new people and make friends with transfers to have a great last two years at la! I’m 20 and I’m a poli sci major right now but I really want to change to a comm stud. major. My goal is to go to law school and pursue fashion/entertainment law. Ultimately I want to work in either industry in the future (hopefully). I love music and movies! Mostly on my free time I love going to concerts, mueseums, festivals, foodie places, etc. Follow me on insta @ixshaina and maybe we can talk more and idk end up being roomies lol

does anyone else owe $112 on their BruinBill?
I’m curious because I know I have financial aid covering a good portion of my costs?

@bettertransfer Doesn’t it say what it’s for? It is most likely your initial payment for housing, regardless of financial aid. You still have to pay a portion out of pocket to cover a part of the meal plan you choose.

ETA as soon as you accept your housing offer, the initial payment is charged to your BruinBill.

**Orientation sign up should come out today at noon!

Fall 2017 schedule is out!**

@eruditehooper yeah. you have to accept your current offer and then fill out the CAR to have them possibly reconsider offering something else. https:/ /housing.ucla .edu/ my-housing/my-housing
Should be lower on the page near “Other Services and Information”: “Undergraduate Change of Assignment Request”
Doesn’t cost anything extra, but also doesn’t guarantee you’ll get anything better. They’ll notify you in July, if they have something for you

@UCSBtoUCLA I got a suite triple at Sax too. I tried to get into the apartments instead because I dont know how sharing with 5 other people will turn out haha

@anthrotransfer55 I wanted off campus university apartments too. How do we go about trading housing offers for those who got apartments?

Thank you kindly! Much appreciated

I chose to do the overnight housing option for orientation, does anyone know where specifically the housing will be at for that?

I signed up for Session 204 for the New Student Orientation, but really wanted to actually get the first session. Does getting a later orientation date affect trying to pick your classes? I would assume the people who got earlier orientation have the best chances? or??? I have no idea right now. Even though I signed up at 12:00 pm precisely, I still wasn’t able to get Session 201, 202, or 203. Got put on wait time. Wow, I didn’t know it would fill up that fast.

Does anyone know when you register for classes if you can’t attend orientation? I’m an incoming year abroad student which means when I’m at UCLA I’m classified as a transfer student, but I really can’t do an 11-hour flight one-way just to go to orientation. my.ucla says registration starts on June 30th but I read somewhere that if you can’t go to orientation you have to call them and you’ll register later. Idk if that’s for transfers though so I’m not sure what’s true.

@dreamla I’m a polisci major in DN deluxe triple too! Really hoping it’s Gardenia if that’s the transfer dorm this year.

@filipinafoodie96 That’s weird because I signed up an hour after it opened and managed to get 201.

Completely forgot about sign ups so I also got session 204. Really hope I can still get the classes I want. Did anyone get an earlier session?

@muveemaniac96 I agree! It is completely weird! I called New Student Orientation and they said it’s because there are a lot of people trying to sign up at the same time, and unfortunately I have to call again later or so to see if someone changed their session so I could be at session 201. I’m completely bummed! Congrats for getting in though! Luck’s on your side!

could we possibly petition for an earlier date?

For anyone who needs info about changing housing offers:

Due to the high number of students guaranteed a space, we will not be able to modify a housing offer prior to the due date. Once the student accepts the offer, he/she will be able to submit a Change of Assignment Request (CAR) online at MyHousing by selecting the Change of Assignment Request link. The CAR link is only available until 4:00 p.m. on July 15, 2017. Change of Assignment Requests are not guaranteed. CAR approvals are made throughout the assignment process and the student will be notified if his/her request is approved. If the CAR cannot be processed, the student will be notified by towards the end of July and will retain the original offer.

I got session 202, hope to see some of y’all there!

I got session 202 and I went on at 12:30!! I thought sign ups weren’t happening because when I went on at 12 nothing showed up so I decided to wait another hour haha

Thanks @UCSBtoUCLA I’ll be trying this when the time comes
