Just being the optimist, I’m still gonna check. Besides, Davis will have theirs out tomorrow so they’ll provide me with the satisfaction of actually GETTING a decision…
Maybe results will come out tomorrow–just admission’s sadistic idea of a “SURPRISE!!!”
Haha, in all seriousness however, try your best to relax and stay calm! Based on what I’ve read in this forum, you are all wonderful students and strong applicants. Getting accepted or not doesn’t change that!
Btw! Any biochem majors?
@collegeSOS I’m political science but I’m planning on double majoring in biochem! We’ll see if I’m saying the same thing a year from now lol
I’m a biochemistry major! I applied to UCSC, UCD, UCB, and UCLA. I already got my TAG approved for Davis and got accepted to UCSC under Biochemistry and Molecular Biology! Just waiting on LA and Berkeley now.
lmao thx ucla u rlly know how to keep us on our toes !!!
When are transfer decisions being released for this year? Is the notification usually via e-mail?
I think I am now seriously-mentally sick. UCLA is ruining my mind. I am obsessed with finding why they chose Wed. I’ve got any rational reason. Why la? Why? Lord, I don’t get it why. WhyWHyWHYwHYwhYwhy…
The last drop day of my college is this Sat. Initially, I planed to drop one course if I get into la on Friday. However, if the decision comes out on the next Wed, I still drop the course on Sat with HIGH RISK or drop it on Wed with W(withdrawal). That high risk is because that one course is a requirement for ucb and ucd. but not for ucla (I only applied ucb, ucla, and ucd – EECS/CSE major).
To sum up…
Assumption: the decision will come out on Wed.
Choice 1:
Drop it on Sat believing that I will get accepted. (I cannot take that course because this quarter is too heavy already)
If not accepted, then technically I got no school to go.
Choice 2:
Drop it on Wed getting a W.
Then, I wonder if the W negatively impact at the end like cancellation of admission.
Which choice is better? Help me!!!
@JudeeyBlaineee April 26th at 5pm
Recap: Me and everyone else on this thread wrongly assumed that decisions would come out 4/21 aka tomorrow, since the trend is that UCLA always releases their decisions a week before Berkeley. Well, UCLA decided to jazz it up and they’ve officially stated (on a recorded message when you call their office) that decisions will be posted on 4/26, next Wed. Some of us are still hoping that decisions are actually out tomorrow, and that the reason for the extended date is because they don’t want the portal to crash or have any technical glitches happen. If it’s not released tomorrow, there’s a chance that they’re sending it out on a rolling basis. If that doesn’t happen, then Judgment Day will truly be on the 26th at 5 PM.
The notification is sent through e-mail, but I think people just check the portal on their own on the decision day, because we are all impatient and we have been tortured enough :-S
^^^Pretty much summed up like the past 50 pages of this thread, to be honest.
Felt like it was the beginning of a movie where they say something like, “Let me tell you how this all started…” =D>
@4UCBClay Is there no possible way you could stay in the class? What grade do you have right now? It’s just too risky man. I was confident with my application in the beginning, but I dropped 2 classes, informed them, and now I’m sweating bullets. It’s not worth getting in then having it rescinded because you didn’t notify them before you dropped. How confident are you with your chances for UCLA and are you in an impacted major?
@4UCBClay your best choice is to go with option 2. a W is not going to negatively affect your chances if you’re already accepted, and it’s definitely better than dropping a class required by your backup choices bc as you said, you’ll have no school to go to. do you have a lot of W’s? bc then that would create a larger impact. if you only have a few, then you should be fine.
@lostar LOL, a great recap on this thread, perfectly summarized. i think it’s time to call it a day. let’s just check the portal gradually this weekend to see if our assumptions are right.
If the portals not down by 4pm…I’m gonna assume that this is not a cruel late April fools joke…it’s just cruel.
I’d go for choice 2. Can you ask the admissions team at UCLA? I think they gave a number you can call.
record scratch
freeze frame
Yup, that’s us. You’re probably wondering how we ended up in this situation.
@LynAmmo @cmdchavezz @suenos53 I am majoring in Computer Sci & Engineering. I know it is highly impacted, but my stat is competitive as well.
**
international transfer
gpa 4.0
all requirements done + 4 strongly recommended courses done (out of 5 given – the one is not open at my college).
about 120 quarter units done
ECs: paid internship (directly related to my major), math competition reward, a major-related club President, a non-major-related club VP, volunteer, etc.
I put good amount of time for the essay as well.
Based on the admit gpa from the data given by UC, I am in 75 percentile. If being an international transfer negatively plays a role, then I am at below. I can’t really tell but am 80-90% sure I will get in. The course I wanna drop is the last level of physics which is too heavy to go along with other courses + I am not interested in it at all.
I know the choice 2 is more rational but I don’t wanna get the unnecessary W.
Should I go with Choice 2?..
@4UCBClay Damn =D> The only thing I’d be worried about is the international status and the fact that CS is one of the most impacted majors. Other than that I’d say you were a shoe in. If you’re planning to drop it anyway then I guess there’s no need to wait till Wednesday. All I’d say is just know the risk you’re taking bro. Rooting for you though, amazing stats.
@LynAmmo Thanks for help. Still not sure what to pick… uhh UCLA.
@4UCBClay Are you from Canada? It’s not relevant to the forum but who doesn’t love Canadians?
