Hey everyone! New guy here. I was accepted to UCI as a junior transfer last week. I am currently a Biochem/Cell Bio major here at UCSD (GPA 3.57), and was accepted into UCI’s Biomedical engineering, premedical department. I’m very fortunate!
If anyone is visiting their campus “transfer day” this coming May 4th, lmk. Gonna need to make some new friends now!
Literally the only thing that can explain why so many people with great GPA’s are being rejected, is that UCI is trying to protect their yield. They think that people with high GPA’s won’t go.
Denied to public health sciences 3.34 gpa, all pre-req’s done and I even completed all organic Chemistry sequence with both As. This is so crazy to me. I was denied by UCI and UCLA and waitlisted at UCSD. I was a D2 athlete as well. This really sucks.
Seriously that was my reaction to the rejection letter, I literally said “f you” out loud when I read that, how UCI handled this whole decisions releasing process for me really turned all my passion off for this school.
3.7 gpa and denied, but UCI was my second choice anyway and I already committed to my first choice. Pretty turned off by Irvine due to how long they made people wait.
I got into UCSC but had my heart set in UCI, of course I was taking care of housing and other things for Irvine not knowing if I would get in, if they just told from the beginning I could have just focus on planning for somewhere else. Just don’t mind me dude I’m just venting.
P.S. congrats on anyone that got in

Major: Criminology
GPA: 3.51
IGETC: Done this Spring
EC: editor-in-chief of yearbook two years in a row in high school, volunteered, and salutatorian.
Was waitlisted at UCI as CS major with a GPA of 3.17 a few days ago. No idea why they didn’t just reject me. Was rejected by every other UC I applied to except for UCSC, but was told I will only be able to attend with a non-selective major.
Will be going to SFSU, as I imagine the chances of me getting accepted from the waitlist is abysmally low.
Congrats to those admitted, and to those rejected, I realize you are probably frustrated and feel down, but you will be able to do great anywhere as long as you put the work in and make use of the resources at hand. Keep your head up and good luck
