Curious why you didn’t apply to FSU as you are in-state and their in-state tuition is very reasonable.
Their siblings, not parents are Duke alumn.
Duke is known for giving good aid. All the super selective “top” schools tend to offer good aid compared to other colleges.
OP applied to FSU and was rejected. OP seems to know their situation and will be fine. No need to comment especially if you haven’t read the thread.

I was accepted into Umiami yesterday!! Go canes!!! They said in the email that they couldn’t give me a financial aid offer until I submit some forms (w2, 1040, etc), so still waiting on that-but I actually cannot believe this. Feels like a dream.

just read through this whole thread and want to say I have a ton of respect for you and how you’re handling all this especially with the troubles you’ve faced. It seems you’re coming out with some great choices and I hope you end up somewhere you love!

My mom went back in the days and she loved it. I hope you get a good FA offer because it will open so many opportunities for you. You have so many great options and I’m very happy for you. Any college is lucky to have you and I’m sure you will be successful no matter where you go. 
Hi everyone! Long time no post, but I was waiting for some more schools.
I was waitlisted from Fordham, rejected from Syracuse. Sad about that last one, but it happens and I have to remind myself I got accepted to some great schools!
It’s looking like I’ll be attending the University of Miami! Still waiting for the financial aid package but I’m very excited. Thank you guys for all of the help you’ve provided me the past few months

Sorry to hear about those two schools, but U. of Miami is indeed a great school! Have they given you any kind of timeline as to when you might expect your financial aid package?

Nope, and I still haven’t heard anything. The fafsa is still very delayed and I haven’t heard anything from them either, and one of the forms they ask to consider financial aid is that, so that could be delaying it. I’m nervous about that, but I’m still considering other schools and waiting to see from everywhere about aid. I will definitely post when I hear something!

Hello everyone!!! Long time no post but some GREAT news!! I finally heard from UMiami financial aid, plus some other stuff 
I had been accepted as a spring admit, which didn’t bother me (basically I was going to start in January 2025 instead of Fall 2024). However, on Tuesday, UM called me offering me a chance to start in the Fall as they had not reached their enrollment target!! They said a very limited number of spring admits get this opportunity, so I am VERY proud and EVEN MORE EXCITED!!!
That being said, I was still waiting for financial aid. However, I just got it back, and all together the grants I recieved (state, and federal, and UMiami ones) totaled 88k per year. I cannot describe how much this meant to me as I officially have committed to one of my dream schools, with little financial worry.
Thank you to everyone here for helping me this entire time, I can’t describe how much this thread and everyone in it has helped me. This is my last post on here, and I hope you know that I really appreciate the time you took to respond to this thread and read my comments. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And GO CANES!!
