Family games

Perfect thread, I was just looking for a new game. Aside from several already metioned Password is a standard in our home. It is set up for 4 player but you can play with more as long as there is an even number.

Can’t Stop is back? It’s a great game! We taught it to Mathson’s fourth grade class when they were doing probability.

Can’t Stop is back in print? We made our own set because we couldn’t buy it. Addictive.

We at Fang Cathedral love games. Settlers of Catan is fantastic. Lately we’ve also been playing Pandemic and Lost Cities. Ticket to Ride and Carcassonne are also games that gamers love.

I see Boggle’s been mentioned. I like the original, but I LOVE Big Boggle, which is no longer being sold. (sniff… and we need a new one, as ours has disappeared)

The Santa Owl left this Owl and her Owlet Blokus, which we all played for the first time the other night. Boy, win one game, and pay for it forever; the others players ganged up on me! (And who knew the Owlet had such a competitive streak in him? Well, I did know that, I guess; just could have done without the chortling and obvious glee he took in blocking me…)

S also got Settlers of Catan; both this and Blokus were suggested to the Santa Owl by folks here. We haven’t played Settlers yet, but assuming I can get the new printer working and configured and off the dining room table sometime today, I hope we can try Settlers tonight.

lspf72, for you: [Rules for the game of Hearts](<a href=“search - FamilyEducation”>How to Play Hearts: Rules for Hearts Card Game)

Ah - fantastic!
Thank you, owlice! Have just printed them out. The rules don’t look as complicated as I thought.

Any time we get 6 or more of our family together, we break out the Balderdash. We range in age from 7 to 80, and it is always a hoot to see who will be the one cracking up while reading the outrageous, yet seemingly logical, definitions aloud. It has been a family favorite for many years. Even my legally blind D plays, using her CCtv set up at one end of the table. For smaller groups, we play Rummikub, Pente, Boggle, Scrabble, and sometimes Settlers of Catan.

owlice, check ebay for Big Boggle. I saw a couple of listings for it. Not cheap, though!

We break out Apples to Apples frequently. We enjoy party games (although the longer classics are still fun) we like games that are quick and move along.

[APPLES to APPLES](http://www.playyourredcard.com) is a good place to check it out if you’ve never played and don’t want to just buy it without a little research first (hey, the economy being what it is and all).

We got a new game for Christmas. It’s called ImagineIff…
We had a great time playing it the other night. Basically each person answers a question about one of the players (Imagine if Susie were a candy bar. Which one would she be? -multiple choice answers) and everyone with the majority answer gets to move one square. Great with a family where everyone knows each other really well. If you play with fewer than 8 players, you add names that everyone knows (we added our pet, a neighbor, and Steve Carrell).

Anyway, for just having guessed from the box that it would be good, we got lucky.

PS - another vote here for Settlers and Carcassonne.
