@gouf78, thanks so much. I am new to shopping group tours. I enjoy the researching and planning and have some specific interests so love the DIY. Figuring out the ferry timings and transport details for Greece as a solo traveler doesn’t seem fun though. So many group tours have itineraries that are too rigid for me, so I appreciate hearing of one where that isn’t the case.
I seriously doubt language would be a big issue in either place. As long as you are patient and speak slowly you will be fine.
It’s amazing how even in the tiniest, most remote corners of the world, you can find english speakers these days. Look to the teenagers or college students for help if you have trouble communicating with older people. And always polite to learn the very basics in the local language.
So what did you decide, OP?i
Greek islands are on my bucket list… OTOH, the Baltics are (IMO) more exotic. It would be a tough choice, although it definitely seems like a choice between a water-based trip and a cities-based trip. As busdriver says, very difference experiences.
In September, especially towards the end, you risk rainy weather in the Baltics, whereas it is the prime season for vacationing in Greece.
The Greece trip was the first time we used a tour. We used trafalgar. They were great.
fwiw, anyone I wanted to talk to in Tallinn spoke English.
