Lol…

I sat a few tables away from Woody Allen and Mia in a restaurant in N.Y.C., when they were together. When working for the Park Service I met Queen Elizabeth during the Bicentennial of the U.S… She was really nicely dressed .

Reune at the same time as Hillary, so my classmates and I pose for candids with her. If I can, I try to get sheet music or records signed by artists at their concerts (too long a list) but I do remember meeting Mary Martin backstage when I was a little kid. She kissed me on the cheek and chided me for staying up so late. S’s and D’s HS have lots of famous alumni who come back for events, so have gotten to meet them, too.

On a trip to London I saw Helen Mirren standing in the lobby at a play we were attending. My wife and I were once on the same plane as Julio Iglesias.

And one other: at last year’s USC Parents Weekend Henry Winkler (he’s put on some weight) and spouse, parents of a USC student, were going to give a presentation. I walked by them when they were on the outside of the building and cooly nodded. Henry nodded back.

My son recently danced with Lindsay Lohan at The Boot in New Orleans – he was so excited he called me at 2:00 am (his time) to tell me.

concerneddad - Are we all invited to the wedding?

Concerneddad, that alone is worth going to Tulane.

Well, he seemed to think she might call him – but no such luck. So, no wedding as of now. dstark, my son would say that Mardi Gras was reason enough to be at Tulane.

I’m terrible with faces, so chances are that I would never recognize anyone famous.

Point in support: when I was still single, several decades ago, at a fund raiser while the band was playing a polka I saw an attractive quiet woman standing nearby. So I asked her to dance. It was only later that night that I learned I had been dancing with Joan Baez.

Once went to a garage sale run by an elderly but lively woman. While I was rummaging through the items, some of which wer very interesting, people stopped by to chat. At the end I learned that the “little old lady” was the famous photographer Imogen Cunningham.

concerneddad, she is a busy person. She might call him, yet.

well, he can keep hope alive!

My family had an chance encounter with Billy Graham on an Easter Sunday when I was in HS; we were having Easter dinner at a little restaurant in Montreat, NC; he was there with his wife. My father, a minister in his black clericals, caught Billy Graham’s eye, and he came over and introduced himself to us. Pretty amazing then and now.

Was Lawrence Welk there? He counts.

My most memorable famous person moment was when I was 6 years old. We were having dinner at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim- a big deal for our family at the time - and sittng at the table across from us was Walt, himself. I got his autograph. Nothing else will ever compare. :)

My Husband’s most memorable famous person interlude was while he was at the Met in NY and Jackie O walked by him. She actually touched his tweed jacket and said, “Lovely jacket…” while moving on to the next painting. Since we were poor students at the time and it was just about the only thing he owned, he was quite stunned.

Most amusing famous person exp: Lead singer of Linkn Park (sp?) lives a few doors down from us, and we sang carols to him and his family at Christmastime with a bunch from our neigborhood. He’s very private, (our neighborhood isn’t fancy) but he came out to listen, and applaud!

Got to play 18 holes of golf with Steve Yzerman once. (All-Star Red Wing hockey player for the hockey-challenged.) Very nice fellow.

I used to know somebody who caddied for Bill Murray
- I wasn’t there so I won’t repeat his behavior:eek:!

My husband and I went to dinner at Cafe Des Artistes in Nyc where the tables are REALLY close together. After I sat down, I checked out the woman next to me and thought “wow, that looks like my mom-so much for this place being the HOT SPOT.” I realized after I looked at her husband that I had being dissing Joanne Woodward.

That is great! <<<giggle>>></giggle>

Pre-Allison Krause concert in Detroit, had dinner at a restuarant near the Fox Theatre in Detroit with W, S#1, D, S#2 and my younger brother. There was nothing available for 6 when we walked in, but two young women at a big table gave it up to us as they only needed seating for 4. Two guys walked in a bit later and joined the two women at a nearby table. One of the guys knocked over a stool and made a big commotion in so doing. We left to go to the concert.

Sure enought, right after intermission, Mr. Knock the Stool Over comes on stage - Jack White of White Stripes playing music from Oh Brother, Where Art Thou. The woman that so graciously gave up the table was his ex-girlfriend/ex-wife/sister - no one seems to know for sure.

OK, foot in mouth experience. It was my son’s 8th birthday party, which just happened to fall on SuperBowl Sunday when my beloved Cowboys were playing the Bills for the first time in Pasadena. So, I was all decked out in jersey, hat, etc. So, one of my son’s friend’s mom starts talking to me about the Cowboys, and I say something to the effect of it’s been a long time we have made it to the SuperBowl, and dran we had to suffer so long with that #$%^&* Danny White as our quarterback! Yup, it was Danny’s White’s sisiter I was talking to. All I could say was, “How about them Cowboys!!”
