Perhaps. I’m more of an alternative rock kind of girl.

i’m also a huge funk enthusiast
so
George Clinton, Parliament, funkadelic, louis johnson, james brown, bootsy collins

the strokes are cool, so are the kooks, weezer some songs i like, jack johnson, captain beefheart, velvet underground, GNR old skool bad assery, easy listening

man i needed like an entire page lawl

The musicians I put were Keane, Kanye West, and Beirut.

MITpwns, Cider and dpattz, I think we’d all get along great.

I put Muse, 30 Seconds to Mars, Jimmy Eat World. (Angst much? lol. I also like Linkin Park, RHCP, and 3DG though)

@llpitch: yayz for another Anberlin fan! That band is underappreciated. :)

I completely agree. It’s like my favorite band lol.

Haha. Linkin Park was really the first band that I really liked pretty much. Although I always seem to not have something to listen to because of how fast I go through music.

Ditto. Before Linkin Park, all I knew was what I occasionally heard on Radio Disney. -_-

But then I found Linkin Park (albeit six months after everyone else) and I became obsessed. I never every single pointless trivia there was to know about each band member. :)

Who’d have though I’d now be listening to Riccardo Chaily’s interpretations of Edgard Var

Anberlin’s “Good Drag” is pretty good … but I need to hear more songs from Anberlin before I really learn to like them.

(Sorry I know I’ve been on this thread since like forever, but I just like talking about music in general)

arduouspallor - we would get along great! well, musically speaking of course :P

*Anberlin’s “Good Drag” is pretty good … but I need to hear more songs from Anberlin before I really learn to like them.

I hate their remake of that song. I like the old “The Feel Good Drag” a lot more.

They had an older version? I need to get my hands on it. I must really be missing out on something really good.

Anyone a fan of Joanna Newsom and Devendra Banhart?

You guys have such eclectic tastes, I would not be surprised!

I try to listen to all kinds of musical crap. I love music …

But I hate to break it to you … I’ve never heard of those singers.

But I’m interested in hearing some songs by them. Which ones do you recommend me to start with?

LOL. Well they are VERY obscure.

Well, I love Joanna Newsom’s Sprout and the Bean. The song was featured in The Strangers and I just thought it was so beautiful that I researched the musical score of the movie to find who the song was by. She’s also a harpist.

Devendra Benhart is a little out there, to say the least. I like Carmensita, I Feel Just Like a Child, and Little Yellow Spider. Also, he went out with Natalie Portman. Yes, that Natalie Portman. (You’ll know what I mean when you see him!)

^OliveTree:

Thanks alot … I can tell you luv your music too! I’m gonna try get my hands on some of those tracks… it’s good to share music tastes. Music opens the mind IMO …

Btw congrats on your Stanford admit. Where do you live in Michigan? (u can PM me) … Great job! You should really be proud … you represent us Michigan people! (not that we have that much to be proud of in our incredibly screwed up state)

I put Tryo, Kate Voegele, Jack Johnson, The Killers, and Queen on my app. Tried to cover almost every spectrum of music that I liked: reggae, pop, acoustic, alternative, and classical rock (except for classical, which I felt like was too stereotypical cause I’m Asian. And I hate metal, rap, and opera).

^ Don’t you mean “classic” rock as opposed to “classical rock”??? lolz

I don’t even consider Queen classic rock, anyway (mostly because I hate them haha)

Try Led Zeppelin, ACDC, and good ol’ Jimi Hendrix on for size. That’s classic.

^no, thats the boring, cliche classic rock example bands (though i do have some love for hendrix)

try Primal Scream or Smashing Pumpkins, not classic rock, but is far more interesting than any of those bands

^ lol that is what I meant. I was thinking about how I wasn’t putting on “classical” music.

Queen is DEFINITELY classic rock. Perhaps a more flamboyant and…different…band for the genre, but still classic rock.

AC/DC, I’m okay with. I was never fond of neither Zeppelin nor Hendrix. I like The Who, Beatles, Eagles, Nirvana (borderline classic rock, in my opinion), and Duran Duran, among others.

Queen is absolutely classic rock, and anyone who hates them is a heartless monster.
