Our weather turned this weekend and yesterday and today I was forced to reach into my winter socks. For walking/hiking. I was reminded how much I liked these lower cost compression socks - they are not thin but not thick - I cannot do thick socks. The compression is mild-medium - easy to put on and I have had no issues with them slipping. I can wear either regular athletic shoes or boots. Warm but not hot. Lots of colors/patterns.
Recommended by my daughter who is on her feet all day in health care. She has several pairs. Thought I’d offer up for athletic socks for outside in colder weather:
I went to REI and purchased 5 pairs of exercise socks (to try on when I got home). Smart Wool did not work for me. I am keeping 2 pairs of Balega - 1 Hidden Comfort (my favs) and 1 Ultraglide (they are very comfy but don’t work great with my shoes).
For my pickleball shoes I need fairly thin socks with no cushion. I ordered some more from Road Runner before I let our membership expire. Running shoes are bigger, and I can wear lots of different socks.
