One thing I love in my kitchen is a dedicated paper recycling cabinet on the end of a row of lower cabinets Newspapers are out of sight, but still accessible until recycling day. I have shelves for newspapers and magazines, cardboard and paper bags. I also like the location of my vertical slot tray cabinet, near the prep area, above the refrigerator and next to the ovens. So convenient.

For dry food containers, I like Rubbermaid and OXO.

I have a ton of spots for recycling. I have a bin for “wet” garbage, one for recyclables, one for soda cans (we drink a lot), and one for “dry” garbage. Then, we also have pull out trays for newspapers, magazines and junk mail. Makes keeping the island clean relatively easy.

I have a tiny kitchen. Over one door, we installed a two door cabinet where we store picnic and party goods like paper plates, tablecloth, cups, etc. For my other cabinets, I installed more than the usual number of shelves so that there is minimal air space above items and I get more storage. I have a number of really large lazy susans/turntables on which I store bottles, goblets, and the like – things that need only to be grasped at the bottom since I’m height challenged. The cabinet under my sink is drawer, so my trash can pulls out. The deep cabinet over my refrigerator has a ton of dividers for cookie sheets, thin cut boards, etc. And even above the dividers I have horizontal shelves for the really thick, heavy turkey carving board and a few other rarely used bulky items.

My latest kitchen obsession in a glass storage set–Pyrex Snapware-- that I got last month at Costco. Not only was I happy to get rid of my messy drawerful of plastic containers and mismatched lids, I love the look of these round, rectangular and square containers in the refrigerator since I can so clearly see what’s in them. They were a great deal already ($29 for 9 in assorted sizes) but they were on sale for $25.

I googled Pyrex Snapware - looks nice. I’ve had rectangular nesting sets of pyrex for years - love how they store and stack nicely in fridge.

I am lucky to have a lot of cabinets and a large pantry (ha, not the mega sized one seen in model homes). But stuff gets lost in the deep pantry shelves. DH and I both really like this shelf system installed inside the pantry door.

We looked at other cheaper brands, but they seemed too flimsy. For us this one was worth the cost. For all the hardware and about 5 baskets it seems like price was under $100 during January sale.

I don’t have the over the door hanger, but use these shelves (four of them not enough!) for all my spices.

We have plastic covered wire racks installed by prior owner on the door of the pantry that hold spice bottles perfectly (as long as they are standard-sized bottles). It also holds the larger salt shakers and pepper grinders on the top shelf. Can even fit large medicine bottles (that decades ago I put spices in when I was in college). I need to toss those bottles and replace with fresh ones and fresh spices.
