We are heading to NYC in a couple of weeks for a long weekend of shows, a little sightseeing, and hopefully great food with our two daughters and one son-in-law! I came acoss this thread and wondered if anyone had any new favorites? We are looking for places where we can have dinner before attending a show. Need one dinner restaurant around Lincoln Center (before War Horse) and two for the theater district area (Book of Mormon and Lion King). Don’t want outrageously pricey - just great food!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Midwest Parent, is ‘The Lion King’ still at the Minskoff Theatre? If so, there is a great Italian restaurant just on the next street over … Carmine’s. We saw ‘The Lion King’ and ate at Carmine’s about three years ago and it was wonderful! TLC was so beautiful it made me cry. Enjoy your trip.

Near Lincoln Center
We had a very nice dinner recently at Telepan http://www.telepan-ny.com/menus when we went to the opera. The service was impeccable. My husband arrived late (stuck in traffic) and they didn’t blink an eye, but let us order for him and held it till he got there. My sister-in-law forgot our tickets and they let her use their printer to print out new ones.

SplashMom - Yes, The Lion King is still at the Minskoff! Thank you for the suggestion - I’ve heard of Carmine’s and we LOVE Italian, so that just might be where we go!

We saw TLK when it first came to Broadway and our girls were young. We enjoyed it immensely then and are looking forward to this return trip. We picked two new shows and TLK for old time’s sake!

You’d love the Boathouse Restaurant in Central Park. Look it up on-line…they are great for a Sunday Brunch! Dressy casual. BEAUTIFUL view! Enjoy-

eadad: Perhaps because New York is a small town…but in the show Who Do You Think You Are? Steve Busemi (spelling?) had the same experience. “His” restaurant was in Brooklyn.

We had dinner there a few weeks ago and loved it. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice.

We also had dinner one night at Tao (near 5th ave - Madison and 58th). We loved that restaurant also. Didn’t have reservations, so we ended up eating at the bar. We had a great time chatting with the bartender, trying different martinis and food.

That’s cool that you were just at the Boathouse Restaurant! I ate there once for brunch and really enjoyed it. Sounds like you had an enjoyable dinner there too. I Would love to go back for dinner sometime. It’s really such a lovely & peaceful setting in the middle of NYC!
